Hey. Does anyone know of any good Japanese rock/pop bands? I'm looking for another way to listen to Japanese besides anime.

Thanks. :)

P.S. I apologize if I am copying another thread.

The Pillows
Spitz
L'arc en Ciel
Asian Kung Fu Generation

Just to name a few that have a bunch of good songs. I usually listen to solo artists anyway, like Maaya Sakamoto. I could name more, if I had more, but I lost most of my music x_x

Try downloading the soundtracks for the games Ouendan and Ouendan 2, there's a lot of different songs on there, you'll surely find something to your liking.

Ack Jrock lol that stuff is so overrated
but Alice9 was pretty good SID has pretty good stuff too and theres just a whole buncha that lolita image thing going on, go on youtube and they'll all link to each other if you're into it.

My all time favorite was ZONE, they disbanded but really good music from those girls
There's a lot of boy/ girl bands like that good morning thing from that Hello! music company, if you like bubble gum pop and cutesy japanese-ness check that out

Yeah, Spitz! I like them. They make happy music.
I have a friend who quite likes B'z. I think they're a band anyway.

well, it seems some of the staple jrock/pop bands have been named (larc en ciel and x japan), but theres a few more IMO.
Malice mizer - They kinda require an odd taste, but good nonetheless
Galneryus - More metal than pop, But unlike dragonforce (im not dragonforce bashing) Their songs actually sound different.
AnCafé - theyre good.

But also mind yourself of the douche bands such as UVERworld

guitar wolf.

Also here is a list of i wouldn't say signature songs, but songs that define their sound.

Rusty nail - x japan

Au revoir - l'arc~en~ciel (if you were smart you would stay away from gackt's solo stuff)

It really hard giving a larc en ciel song. they range but here,
Visual kei larc en ciel - as if in a dream
more modern not visual kei larc en ciel - drivers high

Chasing the wind - Galneryus

Smile Ichiban Ii Onna - AnCafe

X Japan - X is still my favorite metal track

T.M.Revolution - Daisuke Asakura writes awesome music. TMR sings them with a unique style.

Maximum the hormone - can't put a word on it, but "refreshing" might be a way. makes you want to shout your face off too.

Bump of Chicken - Not quite pop, not quite rock, best of both worlds. Won the best album of life award in 2008 with Orbital Period. For a good reason.

Siam Shade - another dead band but they did put out some decent rock

Others worth noting:
Maya Sakamoto
Flow - I only heard 'Days' but that was good enough
Glay
B'z
KOTOKO - hey.. she does come up with something decent occasionally
L'arc is spoken about a lot but personally I've never heard theirs.

I like Sambo master, B'z, Kishidan, and Porno Grafiti.

Others:
Little Non: They have some very Catchy songs
Flow: World End, Colors, Okuru kotoba, and journey are the best
I'll post more on this later.
