i played a little on my piano and recorded it :). I'm not sure whether you like it, some of my friends say it's ok, some say it isn't. but anyways, the first improvisation i recorded, have fun with it :P and tell me what you think ;)

:EDIT:

you might notice that i wasn't abel to remove all BG noises... X_X

@ Lost in Memory
it's beautiful. did you actually compose it by playing in realtime?
on the other hand, I found that interesting the way we arrange our pieces about memory. In your piece, both the beginning/intro? and the end sound really sad. does it represent your feelings towards the memory, or is it the memory itself?
I thought memory is usually sweet/fragile/carefree...etc, which is what the middle part of your piece sounds like.

in other words, is your structure "feeling -> memory-> feeling"?

the structure of my piece "The Last Memory 2", is "memory->feelings->memory", which is exactly the opposite, if my assumption on your structure is correct.

@Nocturne
improvising can spark some really fantastic melodies, but I think it's still better to organize it a bit; there're some notes that sounds out of place. You can greatly improve the audience impression by fixing all those tiny bugs. but more importantly, abbreviate/organize the piece to have better flows instead of seemingly random repetition. when I do improvising, it seems like I am only playing to myself (which is good for relieving stress and for personal enjoyment), but the audience won't understand until the piece is organized in a particular way.

Edit: I didn't hear any BG noise for some reason;everything is very clear, the reverb is nice... don't know if it's the soundcard's problem, or my ears' :heh:

Not the whole song is improvised. Well, it's a mix between composition and improvisation ;) i improvised the intro, and later edited it a little (i still remember this creepy dissonance in meassure 5... =_= ).
Then again most of the "memories theme" is completely improvised, but sometimes i sat over a hour in front of my piano thinking: "How the hell should i continue with this part?!" :)

that's interesting, indeed ^_^ the beginning and the ending, should express the sadness toward the memory, 'cause you can't get back in time to the good old days.

correct! XD

It's very hard to give an improvisation a solid structure while actually playing it X_X and it takes a massive amount of time to edit it later on...

The backround noises are only tiny crackles from the analog recording :P (you should hear the version, without the noise gate and filters...)

:EDIT:

I'll re-record "Lost in Memories" when I have time:
1. 'cause I had to finish the song for CMA in time (in only 1 day half of the song... that explains some messed up parts )
2. 'cause it was the first time I recorded a song on PC and had some hard/software problems.
