It's really repetitive. :heh: Plus, it seems like every instrument is playing the melody. You should probably give 1 instrument the melody, and give the other 2 harmony. :P

No problem. :D It could also be more musical, like using the right chord patterns/cadences and the stuff I mentioned above. This site might be a good read if you need help on theory:

Same thing as before...they aren't really musical, plus it's still repetitive. I really recommend reading some of the things on that site I posted earlier so you can see what I'm talking about...:\

Yeah... let's go through this one...

OK looking at your left hand in the piano. That is very dull in more than one way. One, you repeat that exact measure through the entire song. Two, all the intervals of the two notes are fifths. Fifths are very open in sounding making them sound dull. They are used in the lower register because triads in a lower register sound like much so usually chords are broken in the left hand.

Looking at page four, WTF's up with the flutes man? One, you have both parts playing the same thing. Two you have them playing two notes at once without marking any kind of divisi. Three you have them playing at forte-fortisimo, which is just like... WAY to loud as you have the piano playing soft. From the looks of it, you though you could get away with some copy-pasta of the same measure for a while and call it a day. And the copy-pasta continues...

Then we hit page six where the trumpets come in. You really need to read something like wikipedia about the range of trumpets. Sure trumpets can play that high, but that is SO not their comfortable range. That needs to come an octave down. And again you did copy-pasta just to make the composition longer.

And on page nine. That ending was so very... random. it really wasn't even an ending. it was like "yeah let's just do this and throw a fermata on the end." A cadence or something would have been nice.

Also orchestration was pretty poor. All you did was double the same part on the second part. If you're going to do that in this case, then you don't really need a second part at all. If your going to use second parts and such, you need to harmonize your melodies or bring something new to the table.

All in all this was a pretty poor composition. You're missing the most important piece to it all. A piece of music is always expressive. From the looks of this, it looks like you went to town with Finale Notepad and didn't have any sense of direction for what you were doing. I think your first step should be to learn. Grab a book on music theory and learn it all. There is much for you to learn from it yet. Also take a listen to whatever music you listen to and try to think of what makes it sound great. With more knowledge and a better understanding of what it means to compose, give it another shot. :thumb:

I sound fortunate for not having Finale to view this.
