Well, not really a name for the artwork, just a name for the character. I've chosen a list of Japanese names that might suit him, but, I'm leaving it up to you guys. So, in all do, lets help find this guy a name :)

I've also put together this list of what names mean, I really want to try and pick something that suits him.

Katashi - meaning firm or hard.

Michi meaning path.

Nobu - meaning prolong or stretch.

Shinobu - meaning endurance.

Edit: Oh, and to add something else, I'm planning on writing a story (book) with this guy (yet to be named) as one of the main characters, so I'll just give you some background info on him so you can get an idea of what kind of person he is.

Grew up with his father and his brother that was 5 years younger, his mother died at the birth of his brother. Lived in a small village up to the age of 17 (village population about 250). He kept to himself during his childhood and adolescent years, yet he definitely did not lack any social skills always respecting others and dealing with matters in a moral manner yet always completing tasks efficiently. Although he was a respecting person, many people found it hard to talk to him for he very rarely built upon conversion just for the sake of it (a talk-only-when-necessary type guy). He also kept fit and strong and was quite intelligent. He never really talked to anyone for the sake of talking and was always on the outside looking in. When he was 17 he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and got blamed for the murder of the local smith (still working on the details of this part). He was then sent of to a larger city (approx population 5000) and put in jail for life. 5 years after he was sent to jail, his younger brother broke him out of jail (again still working on the details) claiming that their village had been raiding by an unknown enemy and that their father had been kidnapped and the village raised and most of the population killed.. But his younger brother also brought along his life-long friend (a girl, name still to be decided) for her father had been captured as well.Together the three try and track down the culprits and find their fathers. 'His' younger brother and the girl are the face of their group and both are experienced archers for they did most of their families hunting (for their fathers never learn't how to use a bow) while the older brother along the journey learns the art of sword fighting and becomes quite efficient in the art. The older brother while strong, has a moderate yet firm build, is quite tall and quite surprisingly elegant. He is the brains and quick-thinker of the group. His younger brother's friend is afraid of him (the older brother) at first but soon begins to realize he is a normal person. There is also a strong bond between the brothers. So, the three explore through the land, searching for leads and trails that might eventually lead to discovering where their fathers have been taken.

(Just a note that I would appreciate it that no-one copies the idea of this story -line as I would like to keep it different and original as it is my idea. The same goes for the artworks that I personally design [not saying that anyone will but I get paranoid]).

I'm also open to any other suggestions for names so if you think you know one that will suit him, go ahead and post it.

And just on a further note, he isn't fully complete yet but I don't think I can work on doing the details without knowing his name and what type of person he is; thus another reason to name him.

Satsubārō Kyo or Kutsū Mugen (Oh how good I am at doing this)

Honestly, though, I wouldn't pick something Japanese. Go with something that makes more sense for what you are writing.

I was thinking about an english name or something, but I'll probably just re-name him for the story and keep the japanese name for the actual artwork, I've always been fond of japanese names that kinda why I chose them.

Orewanamaeganai
Is that "I don't have a name?"
Some day my Japanese will be greater than that of a two year old's, I swear!
Maybe I should go study now, instead of screwing around here...

Anyway, OP, the choice is really up to you. It's your story, so you know your character better than we do.

Hopeless is in the race for the fridge - you got the name figured out right.

I think that if someone has to turn to a forum to get a name for a character, they lack the imagination to actually write a story. Just my opinion.

And please, if you're not Japanese, don't use Japanese names unless the story takes place in Japan or whatever.

Well, you can't flame the dude for wanting to have a Japanese-named friend for the main character, now can you? XD

Btw, I SERIOUSLY want to learn Japanese... damn PennState.. not sending me info for applications.. *sob* *cry*
:P

Oh yeah, may be posting some artwork up in here for critiquing, so.. just a heads up :P

If you want to name him a Jap. name, go to www.20000-names.com, then go to Japanese, then click Male Japanese Names(unless you want female Japanese names). It has 20000(obviously) and the meanings of the names...I would choose Satoshi(clear-thinking; quick-witted; wise) or Iwao(stone man) based on your description.

Btw, for the person who put "orewanamaeganai", you should really space out your words. Japanese people use words too you know, not ramble without breathing.
