Can anyone help me find KohMei's full orchestra sheet music to Ryuuseigun? English searches don't get anything, and navigating in Japanese is difficult for me since I don't know Japanese. (Note: I am looking for the same arrangement played by the Nico Nico Orchestra.)
This is all I found during my "research":
-KohMei's website does not have the sheet music.
-Some Taiwanese orchestra group somehow got hold of the sheet music and is practicing the song as of now.
Kohmei's site:
wanalog.com
Nico Nico Orchestra Performance:

Taiwanese (acgsymphony) site:
blog.yam.com/acgsymphony
practice video:

What I am trying to do is get a orchestra together to play this song. :)

Is there a possibility that Kohmei did not want to release his sheet music to the public (There were none on his site right?)? As for the Taiwanese orchestra group, is there a possibility that it was arranged by someone else other than Kohmei?
You mentioned "band". Remember that it is arranged for an orchestra. You'll be better off re-arranging it for band then instead of looking for an "orchestral" sheet music that would be incompatible with a band. Someone here may help you with that.

If I could read Japanese/Chinese I would know.
It could not have been arranged by someone else, cause the Taiwanese site kept linking to KohMei's performance video, and the practice videos they posted sound too much like KohMei's (same instruments and all, but less practiced)
Sorry, I meant orchestra, so I was trying to get an orchestra together to play this song (at least a small one, to begin with).

Can you provide links to their sites?
It isn't impossible to transcribe one's work. The Taiwanese's site is probably linking to kohmei's site for source of reference so they can credit the author when visitors visit their site, and want to know more about kohmei.
Also I see 2 orchestral versions of it. kumikyoku.rintaun.net. which one is it?

I don't think anyone will ever find Kohmei's sheet music. He doesn't have it on his site. Either Kohmei handed the sheet music to the taiwanese group or any orchestral group personally and privately, or he worked on it in DAW (thus not having the sheet music, therefore the orchestrator had no choice but to transcribe his work.)
I can arrange it my own way if you want, but if you don't prefer mine, but Kohmei's instead, then you're pretty much at a loss. What instruments do you have in your orchestra class?

arrangement is fine too, but the orchestra is well, big. Not sure if you are willing to arrange for a lot of instruments... especially since the song is 13 minutes long.
thats why i was wondering if I could find kohmei's first before asking for arrangements.

I've listened to the original karaoke version so I think I got it down. I'll need to work on it in DAW first then export it to Finale afterwards.
In the meanwhile send me both mp3's (both vocals and off-vocals if you can find one) in high quality and midis of the original themes used in this medley so I can analyze the chord progression. I'll do it if you can find them for me. Fair enough?

Ok, fair. But you need all of the mp3s and midis from the original songs, and not just one midi and one mp3 of Ryuuseigun?
Also, can you arrange for both a concert band and orchestra? If not just arrange for concert band instead.

I have Ryuuseigun taken care of so you don't need to search for it. Just original themes.
I prefer orchestra since I get to use strings. This isn't standard in orchestral repertoire, but I'll be using saxophones as well because I need more variation since this is a very long medley. Will you be able to incorporate saxes in your orchestral ensemble?

yes there will be saxes in this orchestra, is it possible for you use more wind instruments and as well?
as for mp3s, do you need them in mp3 or can I just link them to videos on youtube?

I will use woodwind, but what do you mean by "more" woodwind? I'll cover the common woodwind instruments ranging from bassoon to piccolo (and maybe their corresponding bass instrument). I'm not going to saturate the entire piece with woodwind if by definition you mean "more." I'll use them only when it's necessary.
I need them in mp3 (at least 192kbps-320kbps or any lossless audio (ei. wav, flac, ape). No videos or youtube because the sound quality is horrible.

Here's what I got so far. It's been transposed to G minor (instead of F minor) since a couple of instruments went out of pitch range. It's still a WIP. At this rate it might take me months to finish the daw version, and a couple more weeks to months to make the sheet music for it. I can finish it quicker if anyone can help me find the original themes and analyze the chord progression for me. It'll be a big time saver. So far I've done the first 3 songs. What do you think of my arrangement?

Excellent intro! I'm currently orchestrating something as well, and I can definitely study off yours =p
Nice job. I'd love to hear how it turns out.
Edit: by the way, is that a transcription of sorts of Komei's orchestra arrangement or an original arrangement? I don't recall hearing snares in Komei's version.

Original arrangement. Of course it doesn't hurt to use a bit of Kohmei's.

On a closer listen, the chord progression around 0:21 (last 2 chords) before entering the first song sounds a little weird. Perhaps consider changing the first one to a major chord? Or maybe you can replace the F in the second one with a F# (to F# A D chord)?
Anyways, those woodwind runs sound very challenging to play at that tempo =)

Thanks for the feedback. Ok I've made a few edits to the arrangement. How does it sound now? Same chords, but rearranged.
For the first chord I used Gsus4/D. If Gsus4/D still sounds weird then I'll use Dm7. If that still doesn't work then I'm out of options:heh: In other words the rest will result in dissonance if I go outside the notes of a Gsus4, G7sus4, or Dm7 chord. From what I've transcribed and analyzed, it's a Gsus4/D chord.
For the second chord it was a Dm7/F chord, but I've decided to cut off the 7th in Dm7 to just Dm and made the D note as root instead of F. The Dmaj chord you suggested sounded weird when I tried it. That's because the woodwinds don't have F# in there.

Er.. I got a question for anyone who plays the clarinet. How fast can a professional clarinetist play? I have 16th notes zipping through measure after measure at vivace pace.

A good clarinetist should be able to play 16th's at vivace... usually... are they all articulated?

Sh*t The file disappeared! It's gone! I'm so freakin super pissed! I spent hours and days working on it. When I hit the open button, I noticed it wasn't there anymore. I panicked, searched the folder, and to my dismay it's really gone along with other files. From the looks of it anything created after January 2009 is gone. Anything saved after January 2009 is reverted back to the old saved revision of Jan 2009. WTF? Reverted back? How the heck is that possible? Once it's overwritten, it's overwritten with new data. I'm having a really bad day. My external hdd fails and most of my arrangements are on there. Ryuuseigun is gone. My LoZ medley reverted back to the Jan 2009 revision and I've made a lot of progress these past months just to be confronted by this.
I give up. I'm going to get rid of vista and try out Windows 7 RC and Ubuntu. I don't feel like working on this anymore x_x
