I thought this thread might be interesting. I apologise if there already is a thread like this, but I didn't see one.
Anyhooo, one of my major pet peeves is; that when people think that because they are online, they believe that they don't have to show manners, or show even a tiny bit of respect for other people. If any of you thought I've been like this here, I sincerely apologise.

People who walk ridiculously slow in the hallway. I mean, I get that you don't want to go to class. I don't walk like I'm actually going anywhere either, but there's a limit to the slowness. Seriously, just stand off to the side and stop walking until you actually have to go to class, and then just walk a normally slow speed, instead of leaving for class five minutes early and taking the whole five minutes to get there.

Same here, I hate people when they walk in the middle of the hall or aisles all slow and stop in front of you. The thing that pisses me off the most is when they know you're behind them and they do it on purpose.

Road Pet Peeves:

People who don't give signals
People who do illegal u-turns while I'm turning.
Asian lady drivers who drives big SUVs/Trucks, but can't drive for crap in the beginning
People on their cellphones while driving
Slow people on the fast lanes
Idiots who can't read signs and honk at you.
Old drivers
Cars and raised trucks with HIDs that aren't installed properly (It's equivalent as having five cars high beam you head on)

Daily Pet peeves:

People that takes up the aisle or hallway without any consideration.
Fat people in hallways or aisles
Parents who can't control their kids
Babies that would cry for no reason
Cats that "cry" outside
Parakeets ('nuf said)
Neighbors who have Harleys and become assholes at night when they rev it at 1am in the evening.
Jehovah Witnesses
Mormons
People placing fliers on your car
Telemarketers
High School kids selling magazines door-to-door who does not understand, "Not interested," or "I already am subscribed."
People that cut in line

At work:

Work has opened my eyes to a whole new world: There are indeed dumb-ass people.
Customers who can't read big yellow signs
Customers who thinks they know the prices around the store
Customers who tries to make me look stupid (But I get them back twice as bad)
Customers that brings in the wrong shopping cart from another store inside our store (Mind you, we have tons of our own carts outside, but they bring in "other" carts)
Customers that has no "common" sense.
Workers who are stupid. (The one who takes this spot needs no further explanation, I will get dumber if I explain it and so would you)
Last but not least, customers who can't tell if the store is closed or not. (This happens all the time, customers come in hour after store closes, walks to the door. Door doesn't open for them. They "attempt" to open the door themselves, which in reality would be breaking in and that's a felony. Knocks the door when they see us workers and asks us to let them in. All we do is point at the sign on the door with the store hours printed. They still don't get it. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y78/xpeed/facepalm.png)

Not really a peeve, but when your walking and you see someone up ahead and you try to jostle for a position and you shift left, right, left, right. Just really awkward.

Xpeed must be one peeved person xD

As for me:

-Stupid people.

Now, i know not everyone is a genius, but there is some limit. I dont mind people genuinely not knowing or whatever, and am happy to help, but really, really stupid people annoy the hell outta me. For instance, the people in my old GCSE english class who would sit there in lessons and happily fail because they couldnt be bothered to write in sentences. People who in an essay about Romeo and Juliet wrote 'there was this guy who shot this other dude at a petrol station and then the police came along...' etcetc. And we went through so many essay plans about what to write. D:

Or the occasional randomer who will come in IRC and ask me the same question over and over and keep signing in and out >=|

People like Miss Teen USA 2007.

And then people, mainly girls who act really stupid because they think its attractive. If i was a guy, i would not go for the ditzy bird who doesnt know where you would find your own kidneys or something.
And while im on that topic, girls who act overtly tarty when theyre drunk, and fake how drunk they are. Because obviously that's attractive too. Some girl who's had half a pint, throwing herself at every guy in the room going 'fuck me, fuck me!'.

Argh. I'll always remember going to a party where we were all sitting outside round this patio heater, when someone yelled 'OMG CARRIE'S GOT NO TOP ON'.

Now i feel really bitter and apathetic >.<

My pet peeve would have to be people that pretend they are dumb even though they aren't, they just like acting like it for the attention, I know at least 3 people that do this and I want to strangle them. @_@

People eating with their mouths open.
Hair in the shower drain.
Poor hygiene.

I here ya. Another one for me, is when I see guys showing nude photos of their girlfriend to their friends. Those are things you should keep to yourself.
Also I can't stand bad jokes, like the kind on the laffy taffy wrappers. I feel like slapping the person who tells them.

Yes, I don't like those type of people, which reminds me of Miss South Carolina couple years back. Let me tell you, she is probably the dumbest blond on Earth.

Aimee Teegarden “Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans can’t locate the US on a world map. Why do you think this is?”

Miss South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton
“I personally believe, that U.S. Americans,
are unable to do so,
because uh,
some, people out there, in our nation don’t have maps.
and uh…
I believe that our education like such as in South Africa,
and the Iraq,
everywhere like such as…
and, I believe they should uh,
our education over here,
in the U.S. should help the U.S.
or should help South Africa,
and should help the Iraq and Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future,
for us.”

Host Mario Lopez “Thank you very much South Carolina.”

I also hate teen girls when they say "like" in the sentence one too many times. :bleh:

Yeah that's pretty pathetic, but I think the question she was asked was just as sad her answer. I think it's kinda funny how some people get so wrapped up in her stupidity, they miss the real joke. ^_^

Arrogance and undeserved pride, egotistical people

These two go hand in hand...I usually want to smack down any of those in my school...but then again, there are times when I make them realize that they're not as awesome as they think. I love those times XD

(Talking about my school here, not only my views but a majority of the student body)
Sure, the wrestling team's the regional champions, but that's no reason to be all cocky and arrogant when that wrestling team's filled with academic failures who could only rely on this to make it to post-secondary. >_>

Oh, how I'd love to make them realize that while they ARE good, they think too much of themselves.

The term "Music Artist" used improperly.
When people use "Musician" to describe anyone from a singer to a kazoo player.
Plain idiocy and immaturity.
People who cannot give things a chance and open their minds a little bit.
Frosted Flakes.

Why, what's you're definition? Or do you just mean you hate it when people call unskilled "musicians" musicians?
I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. I kind of agree, except if I think about things that way, I probably don't qualify as a musician either, hahah. :heh:

I think he means when people use the term "Musician" for anyone who has touched an instrument...not necessarily having the skill level to become a musician
Maybe I'm wrong...

How would you describe a "barista" different in any way? I make coffee in the morning, so will that make me a "barista?"

No, but some people seem to think so. *shrugs*

I was a barista, but that's because I had a bit of formal training on how to prepare espresso properly and learned quite a few coffee recipes. One that makes brew coffee at home is not even close to what a barista is.

HopelessComposer
March 16th, 2009, 02:59 am
I didn't even know making coffee was something someone could be considered skilled at. XD
It seems to me that being a barrista is just being a tiny slice of a chef...I don't know if I'd qualify "coffee-making" as a separate skill.
But a fiery hatred burns in my heart towards that disgusting tasting and smelling bean, so I'm probably a little biased.

A musician is commonly known as anybody who plays an instrument. Wrong. Anybody who plays an instrument is an instrumentalist. Anybody can be an instrumentalist, but not a musician. A musician is something of a more interpretive definition and can be explained in many different ways. I see a musician as someone who has a true, pure connection with music and can convey his thoughts of art through an instrument and even in his personality. Is it so wrong that I have called a couple of music listeners "musicians?"

There are many pianists out there, but who of are musicians? Now, there is a level above musician, but it doesn't just describe their mind, but their soul. Their soul is that of an artist. It's a way of life for somebody as an artist, and art could be anything. It's an undoubted passion that it seems they could give life away for whatever they see beauty in. It could be engineering, chemistry, cleaning, dancing, speaking. I see art in everything and there ARE artists in everything-- even computer programming.

It's the same thing from a "Painter" and an "Artist." (Those are two different terms from the artist I explained before; it's better to call them a "Visual Artist" just as you'd call a musician an "Aural Artist.")

I hope this helps you to understand what goes through my mind every time I watch American Idol or listen to the music news. There are talents out there and a few musicians in the commercial music era of today, but not as many as you think. If I had a dollar for every time the term 'musician' and 'artist' were used incorrectly, I would be able to retire at 17 even in the Great Depression (and definitely today).

I don't know. Sometimes things are a matter of opinion, and I cannot be the sole person to say either or not someone is a musician or an artist or is not one, but I have an intuitive instinct of Artistic Integrity. I hold integrity of my own ideals of music and art. You can call me a clueless joe, and you might just be right.

It isn't right for me to call myself anything at all.

Some of my pet peeves:

- People who post in a certain font on forums, instead of using the default font (because it's such a nice font! *cough*)
- People who can't use their own language properly (yes txt spk ppl, I'm looking at you)
- People who think it's cool to speak Japanese or anything similar (no, you're not cool because you eat pocky and dress like an anime character, in fact, you suck)
- People who can't drive yet they still do (mostly Polish people)

There's just a few of them. I'll probably think up more later.
