I like nintendo better because I grew up with mario and co when I was young and I think it was more family based but I still liked sonic and nights just not as much so which one do you like better and why?

You're 4 generations too late with the topic.

She probably means as game developers not game consoles:heh:.

Anyhoo, I prefer nintendo mostly for reasons already stated.

And you're being an awful smartass lately.

I like them both, they're both pretty nostalgic to me.

I would chose pikachu over snake and sonic over metroid

Hard choice =/

Pikachu would win, Snake is pretty lame. I still don't understand why they had to taint Super Smash Bros Brawl with his precense.

But Snake isn't Sega, it's konami if I'm not mistaken. Anyway. I think both Sega and Nintendo know how to make quality games.

Sonic was great back on my Genesis, always had a love-hate relationship with mario64 because although it was great to pick up and mess around for a while I grew tired of it. (I'm not good with platformers in general lol.)

As far as I know segas gotten kinda... bad? I know the only newish sonic game I've played...well sucked. Heard similar comments about the others. Maybe it was the jump to 3D that did the series bad, or the fact that they seem to paint sonic a different color and attach junk to his face/pull a gender swap and call in a whole new cast.

Havent played any new mario games (MS and Halo ate my soul for a while) but Mario sunshine was funish and the couple times I sat down and played Brawl its still fun. (nothing on the original...but maybe thats just nostalgia)

Short answer:
When I was younger: Tie
Now: I'd lean towards Nintendo

I'm with Alone on this one. Is it even a contest anymore? I think Sega's games nowadays average review scores of like fives, while Nintendo is one of the most critically acclaimed (or the most, to some people) game studios on the planet.

"What tastes better, crap or cake?"

Sega still has a sweet spot in mah heart, though. I really do wish they'd get their act together. They recently published Mad World for that new team formed by the ex-Clover members (Viewtiful Joe, Okami). I don't know if they just published that one game for them, or if the Clover guys are a part of Sega now, but that'd be a great acquisition for them. Mad World was surprisingly good - very quirky, and the combat was pretty fun, as expected of Studio Clover, I suppose. :3

Basically, Sega needs to hire more talent. Right now, they're just a name to me, kind of like Atari, except Sega publishes better games, hahah. Midway's the same way, though, along with Activision and Acclaim. It seems like all the old American companies are shit now, while all the old Japanese companies are still kicking ass, with the unfortunate exception to this rule being Sega. What happened to you guys? XD

Oh, Sega's also publishing The Conduit, which is looking pretty promising. I dunno, it seems like Sega publishes gold, but develops garbage. They should just axe Team Sonic and rebuild their internal dev team from the ground up. Maybe hire some disgruntled Nintendo employees, lol. That'd be nice and ironic. SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T!

I grew up with old school Sonic the Hedgehog before he went all 3-D and had a voice and became all fuddy-duddy. So Sega to me kinda sucks after the old Sonic

So at the moment I prefer Nintendo but Sega will have a soft spot~

*edit*

silly me, Okami and Viewtiful Joe are Capcom =="

I remember reading some where that the creater of sonic left sega to start his own company. But sega should go back to the old sonic even sonic adventure battle was really cool though it's in 3D they should just do old school sonic

I remember now that sonic and the black knight was only coming out on the wii and sonic the dark brother hood only came out on ds and sonic and the secret rings only came out on the wii so they are making more sonic games on the ds and wii now

well there are a couple of factors.nintendo=more variety.sega=few game but plenty of treasures. also sega started the bit war by saying (in the 1980s) that they're better than nintendo because the NES was 8-bit, & the genisis was 16-bit. the primary reason for x-box 360 fanboys bashing on the wii.soooooOOOOOooooo yeeeaaahhh. personally i think its great that sega is a third party franchise now,but i think that they should join nintendo and ignore everyone else's consoles. reason=sonic the hedgehog 2006 for x-box 360 & PS3

I've never hearda bout the 8vs16bit thing, I guess the n64 makes some sense now? I never understood why it was (unless im mistaken) 64bit chip (hence the name)

Since when do xbox360 fanboys bash the wii...for anything bit based? afaik both chips are 64bit capable...

What is the primary reason for 360 fanboys to bash the wii? the processor?

If it's a game released for more than one console...why would it be in their interest to join nintendo?

there is one dumb idiot at my school who says x-box is better becaus and I quote "wii sucks because the graphics aren't nearly as good as halo". Personally I'd rather have worse graphics than red rings and $50 per month(i think idk:P)online service

Well... how is that even relevant? I mean its a Nintendo vs Sega thread I dont see how it ties in.

and thats for anyone who was wondering about N64

Don't bother replying theres really no need to clutter up the thread.
Lets get back on topic people! :P

I still feel nintendo is slipping, or perhaps its that theres hardly a sega anymore, but back when I was younger nintendo had a clear position over sega, sure I loved my genesis but nothing beat a good old fashioned 99life battle on smash bros. And for when I wasnt home, nintendo developed the umbilical cord we've come to know as gameboy. Im sure most of you remember being addicted to pokemon.

they say x-box is better but they have to pay for xbox Live when on the wii it's free

... again its nothing bit based, so...shut up about it, its in no way linked to the discussion at hand which is NINTENDO vs SEGA, unless theres something youd like to say about the other participants in the console market affecting your perception of sega and or nintendo, or how their presence affected either of these, its not to be discussed :)

and you're on the INTERNET xbox live is 40bucks a year. Google before you spread baseless idiocy :/

Wait, Heavygamer1, nobody talks about Bits these days. Not the Xbox360 fanboys, not the nintendo fanboys, NOBODY. It's something that was hot during the early and midnineties, even though it made little sense (for comparison, the 8-bit NES kicked the 16-bit Genesis's butt, same with the 16-bit SNES and the 32-bit Saturn, however the 64-bit Atari Jaguar could hardly display the graphics the SNES could produce, and failed miserably.

I don't know, as far as the developers go, they both seem to have fallen through lately for me. Sonic just isn't as good as it used to be (among others), and Nintendo has targeted a market that I'm not a part of. I don't really like watered down gaming, which is what I feel has happened. Of course, I don't really play too many games nowadays anyways.

I don't like anime
