After listening to Caramelldansen (in nico nico douga ryuuseigun) I noticed a familiar chord progression with another song I know, Houki Boshi (Bleach ED). Just as I suspected the chord progression from both of them is I,V,vi, and IV. (In layman's term, they share the same chord sequence).
I spent hours tweaking Caramelldansen until it was in the right tempo and key. Then I spliced, trimmed, cut, modified both the sources into a final (crappy) mix. Ignore the abrupt transitions. That's not the point of this mix. The purpose of this mix is to demonstrate how chord progressions work, and if you ever decide to do a medley by overlapping multiple sources, here's a good example.
Before you listen to my mix. Listen to the original version first to get an idea. Then you can proceed to the mix.

Pm me if you want the higher sound quality version of the original songs I linked to youtube.

Wow... this one laps over really well... Much better than some of the other stuff I've heard (occasional dissonance, like 1000% Sparking and God Knows in the same Ryuuseigun medley).
Actually, it sounds really cool! What I'm most amazed is that they happen to be in the same key... (F# major? What are the chances... lol).
Another good example of this is the Nyan Nyan Service Medley from Macross Frontier's OST2, where they transpose several of the main themes and overlap them quite flawlessly in my opinion.
On a last note, I've also noticed a few songs that use similar chord progressions (at least in the chorus parts), which I'll try to make something out of eventually =)

lol. Anyways it would be cool if we could actually find similar chord progressions throughout many anime and video games out there. I bet Josh knows many :P We could even put up a medley called Ichigos Kumikyoku like Nico Nico Douga Kumikyoku (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsd96jy3GWY).

I think you can find I-V in thousand of songs. :P
Long time ago I saw on YouTube videos about Yoko Kanno doing "plagiarism" of other composers; by comparing works done by her with other artists' music that sounded very alike. I found it very stupid comparing but well, if you interested to take a look to songs that share various elements, maybe try and find it.

The rhythms of the melodies in the chorus overlap really well! Nice find :)

Oops, didn't read it carefully enough. But now I'm curious, what program did you use to transpose the music? I assume you did it with the mp3 file directly?
Anyways, amazing.

Adobe Audition, but you can use audacity as well. I can provide a tutorial if you're interested, but finding the right chord progressions is difficult.
