This has been puzzlement to me lately and I can not reach a conclusion.
When should a person go to war?
Never? Only for Defense? To cease Genocides? Follow the Commander and the Country? Or What the person think is just.
Never
Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war.

If only everyone does that, it will end war. But war, in a way, is murder as a group. We are not close to prevent murders, how can we persuade the dissolution of war?
Defense
I asked my dad and he told me only to join the army when the other country started the invasion first and my country is losing. He believes in never fighting in any war though. <-a contradiction, but I won't explain.
I thought yeah at first, perhaps I will need to protect my future wife and even kids. But are there not other options? Such as fleeing the country if possible or perhaps my family will be safe after the country is conquered. I have no nation attachment and feels that it should be this way for a more united world.
Justice
I have realized that my sense of justice on different issues has been changing over the years. When have I been correct? When have I been wrong? It differs with time and from people to people. My own self of justice can not be the reason to enforce others.
Genocide
Germany, Rwanda, Sudan, etc...
If anything can be true injustice, it is genocide and the racial or gender discrimination of mankind. But it is still a sense of justice and perhaps not necessarily true to others.

I am leaning towards "Never" at the moment. But what about protecting myself, family, and ceasing genocides? Yet, how can I kill or support killing out of a sense of justice? Ah... I am so inconclusive of what choice to make.
P.S.: I am asking when would you go to war and your reasoning, if any, behind it. Also, I am not debating on anything. I know there are lots who will die for their country, die for their sense of justice, support Israel because it is "God's" country, or whatever..
