Hello all, I was just wondering if there are any instruments that are both stringed and wind instruments. What I'm trying to say is, are there any instruments, where you blow into them like a wind instruments and press keys, but also have strings that vibrate to make the noise, kind of like an aeolian harp, but different. This is really hard to explain, but if anyone can understand me, is there an instrument like this.

The closest thing I can get is a melodica, which is a woodwind keyboard. You blow into it and press the keyboard (like a piano keyboard) which lowers the reed below it and the reed vibrates; no string component here though. XD

Thanks Al for the website link, they have some really neat stuff there, I still didn't find what I'm looking for though; though I don't actually know exactly what I'm looking for anyway lol. The melodica is kind of what I am getting at, but still not it.

Hmm, I think I might try to invent one, but its gonna be tricky as, considering the idea I have in my head....or maybe not. Either way, I'll keep looking.

Well Mango, you might just say, I'm a little obsessed with odd instruments. I love getting new instruments especially the odd ones. So I thought I might see if there was something really odd. No other reason then that, I do love playing them all though, I don't just buy them and put them up on a wall.

Well, where to start, just check out my profile lol, most of them are there under About Me section. But, mostly old wind instruments and guitar like intruments lol. But the cool odd ones, well, not necessarily odd, more old then odd.
