i've been composing for a few years now & i just wanted to know what people think about some of my music. this is a western-styled march called newfrontier. i can't upload the recorded file, but the pdf works. if anyone wants a finale of pdf extracted part, just ask. tell me what you think =]

i don't like how some of the staccato sounds, but in person it sounds better

BTW, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to upload the recorded file. What kind of file is it, and how big is it? If you need to convert it to mp3, just use iTunes.

idk why, but my computer will only let me make .wav files, and itunes won't let me make it either for some reason, i've tried so many times. but soon it's getting recorded by a live orchestra, so hopefully i can upload that.

It's very great! I love the march style put into your composition. Some parts I kind of didn't like. But overall, great composition!

frontier: I think you might be overdoing it with the unison doubling; look out for that. Otherwise, good composition.

Frontier:
For some reason, I couldn't hear any snare drum in the finale file. It was written in the score so that's okay because such a rhythmic piece NEEDS snare. Try to vary the patterns a little with flams and rolls etc. to make it more interesting, especially at the ends of phrases.
The bass drum might also be a little too busy at parts, the beginning for example, but that all depends on the drum. The one at my school has such an awful resonance, you can't make anything quicker than half notes sound good.
Some crash cymbal wouldn't be a bad thing either. Something you can do is add some dramatic crashes in measures 7-8. Then some very quiet ones in rhythm in the following measures.
On measure 21 I don't know why you put the third in the timpani part instead of the root of the chord, C, which is one of your tunings. That could have happened elsewhere, but that was the only time it was overly noticeable to me.

I'm a percussionist, can you tell? :P Anyways great composition! It had a nice lively bounce to it.
