I though it'd be better to introduce myself here. I'm worse than amateur as a composer, and currently bear the rank of "nub". XD Just though I'd say hi to all, and ask for advice on how I can better learn music composition from you guys. And no, I'm not a spam bot. If you want a sample on what I've done before (collateral damage) :p you can risk your ears on listening to This Piece (http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/9/19/2104745/Tale%20of%20a%20Runaway%20Child.mp3)

Here, you'll find lots of composers going in different directions. I shoot for a more classical idiom, but the majority try for a composition style that would be better suited for video games. My advice is to pick whatever style you want to pursue and study that music! Listen to as much of it as you can for ideas, check out books on counterpoint and orchestration from the library, and most importantly of all, write music regularly. You'll be shocked at how fast you progress.
And you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. "Tale of a Runaway Child" seems to be about the mean for this forum.
Never get content and you'll always be satisfied!

I've written stuff before as well, but mostly are from the ideas brought by my religion. Of course, anyone would like to step out of the box for once and create something you never thought you can make.

your harmony is nice in that song you posted. Simple, followable, and pretty clear. But I think you worried too much about it that you let it break your melody sometimes. This was recorded on your keyboard correct? I thought I heard someone coughing lol. I didn't like how you introduced a flute so randomly, especially it didn't really serve a perpose. Alfonso is correct. Write lots and eventually it will just start to come to you. I tell and others have said to many people asking for advice, READ BOOKS. online sources will never be able to give you the details of a good book.

Welcome to the forums! I've only been here since the start of the year, but it's really good. I bit of a tough crowd sometimes, but it's all for a good reason! :)
Tale of a runaway child is very pretty. I think if the flute was introduced earlier and if more instruments were introduced at the same time. Like stings maybe? Then it would work much better. The only thing that hurt my ears was the buzz of the recording. YOU MUSIC IS GREAT SO FAR! KEEP IT UP!
Oh, I love the C9 at the end!

Hah, thanks for the comments. I never thought I'd actually be posting another song after a long idleness. Here's another one for your commenting. When writing this I imagined heaven with angels blowing trumpets. XD

Yeah I know it's just me bashing my keyboard with the melody line and some chords, mostly due to the reason I just wrote this and recorded the song in all its rawness so I won't forget it when I make a vocal score. And yes again, I wrote this for church.

I hear some great potential in this for a vocal score. Make sure you do that!
