Heyo guys. I'm not sure if this is too off topic since its not piano or w/e, but I was just wondering if anybody out there had any info for a newbie bass player. Anybody know any good sites I can learn a little funk/slap bass from? Any site with licks or w/e... I pretty much just picked up the bass because my high school needed a bass player for the musical, so I can read notes and play and all...

Funk/Slap bass isnt something you learn by reading, you learn by -doing-.

As long as you have the basic hand shape right, there's nothing more to it other than some good quality practise and perhaps some inspiration. When I first learnt this, i made it my goal to learn any Red Hot Chilli Pepper songs i could get my hands on, on bass. Not because I really like them or anything, but just because Flea is an excellent slap bass player. Providing you really get into the music, the style should come naturally to you.
