Hello all~

I haven't been in here much, I'm in the sheet music forum (http://forums.ichigos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11) much more often... but in connection with a little secret project of my own, I've started seriously trying to make my own music. So, it's nice to meet you all *bows*

Here's the first of my compositions I'd like to share... please enjoy it :)

I haven't got very much formal musical training (composition, music theory, etc.), so I'm very interested in your suggestions on what needs improving. Or if there are any images my music brings to mind, I'd like to hear about that too

Thanks in advance for listening.

You're off to a great start. I would recommend you to look into your melody. You have a decent idea on what kind of harmony goes good but your music lacks phrasing. A simple way to see what I mean if you don't know is if you play only the top note of your piece. It becomes repetitive if you listen to it this way. That is what made me get bored of the song after a while. A bit more difference in rhythm wouldn't do this piece bad either.

Welcome to the composing forum.

Nice! Welcome to the composition forum Josh! I was wondering if you'd ever post something here. :P

Sounds great! It sounds like a track from a relaxation CD. Makes me think of flowing water. :heh:Is there any significance to the numbers in the title?

Looking forward to hearing more!

Thanks for your comments-- much appreciated :)

Just one more question though, what did you think of the key changes? They're quite basic (G -> F -> C -> G), but I didn't notice them at all until I revisited the piece and actually wrote it out...

@ KaitouKudou - noted, thanks :D This piece was actually an improvisation (I try to record a few every day, and this was one of the more focused ones)... I guess my melodies need more work :D

@ Porsche - no particular significance to the filename, it's just a timestamp. The actual title _is_ something water-related though... so, mission accomplished :D :D

Hello again~

Here's another one I'd like to share.

I'm not too satisfied with the finale (the part from ~3:10 with all sixteenth notes in the right hand), but I can't figure out exactly why...
