Well now, that was exciting! After much buildup to an impending clash, we finally got the actual clash. The Arrancars and Soul Reapers begin an epic battle in the world of the living, and we already have our first casualty of war.

This story wasted little time getting into the action. The Arrancers and Shinigami rumble right from the start. Hitsugaya and Rangiku start us off with a quick beginning to a yet-to-be-completed but intense skirmish with two Arrancars, and Hitsugaya gives his opponent a dose of smack talk. I really look forward to seeing more of that fight.

The scene shifted from Hitsugaya and Rangiku to Chad, who has healed up after his epic beatdown at the hands of Yammy. Chad feels the Arrancars coming, and tries to rush off to help, but ends up having to be saved by Ichigo in the nick of time, which prompts him to start freaking out about how weak he is, and he runs away like a little girl (which, given the circumstances, might have been quite appropriate). Apparently everybody is having self-esteem issues this season.

Though it looks like Ichigo might be able to handle this fight now that he's got his confidence back, Rukia shows up and reveals that she has her shinigami powers back during a long explanation, which, apparently, their Arrancar enemy, D-Roy, sits there and listens to. He finally just attacks them and gets on with it, which is what any self-respecting villain would have done in the beginning. The "pause the action while I go on a long exposition explaining things" convention isn't just unique to anime, you also see it in American comics, but that don't make it right, and Bleach does it a lot. At least this time the bad guy actually interrupted it, though it took him a while.

Sally, as much as I love your vigor and enthusiasm in regards to posting your comments on animated material, please stop posting single episode threads. That goes against the policies of the anime section of the forum (one anime, one thread; no exceptions). If you continue, repercussions will start.
