I'd like to see what people think of MTV. Do you think it portrays 'Music Television' the way it should?

A load of rubish in my opinion, it fuels the musics industries love of manufacterd bands and monotinus style of music.

but saying that, MTV does represent more of what people listen to than the singles charts. but this is only in those channels and times when you phone into vote...

myself i only tend to put on Virgin radio or XFM for their mix of music. MTV2 is ocationally on the tunner but not for long

MTV is more bullshit than it is music.

Heh, awesome. People who understand. MTV is so pumped full of advertisements and its own shit. What does switching rooms between an average bloke and some slutty mistress have to do with music?

MTV = Music TeleVision. Its a shame it doesn't portray the lighter, more accurate measurement of the term "music".

MtTV (EmptyTV, as in "There's nothing there!")

Nothing to nourish the soul with, at least. Isn't that an important part of music?

I hardly watch MTV, unless my friends watch it from time to time. I don't like it too much though..

to have great music=good voice, good singer, good melody and last but not least good lyrics...movements of the body and sceneries doesnt mean the music is good....therefore i conclude that MTVs are absolute waste of money to produce

A damn shame people don't view good music the way you do, Magician.

MTV is "popular". Kids want to be "popular". So they believe anything MTV says or does is cool.

 Care to explain why MTV is one of the most successful channels of all time then? I admit it's not always worth watching, but that doesn't mean that it is a waste of money..

No no, I understand you, it's just that MTV is not a waste of money. I don't like MTV either, but people watch it, a lot of people watch it so their profit is huge. It's as far away from "waste of money to produce" it could get.

I can't stand the thing!! They rarely (as in once a year) play anything decent- they just take seven or eight songs- most of which are more focused on the video than the song (if that makes sense) and keeps repeating them all day- and the annoying thing is- people will sit there and watch the same few songs over and over again without getting bored- i mean, what kind of boring lives do they lead?
Although i have to admit- i watch it sometimes- just for the videos because some of them are alright
