Well, I haven't played piano for so long, maybe about a few years, but I need some help of advice from you pros.

When I try to play 32nd notes on piano, I just can't, when I try to play it fast, I tend to screw up. I don't know why, things I thought why was because I didn't get the finger positions/hand position right.

Some songs I tend to screw up when I play 32nd notes.

Lith Harbour (Piano) ( 150.25 kB )
Measure #48

I would love if you anyone of you guys could give me some advice for playing consecutive 32nd notes because I get so frustrated when I try to play that song and all I can't play is the fast notes. :(

start slow, and start single handed if you don't already do that. play the 32rd notes like eight noes if you have to. label your fingerings to whatever is the most comfortable and most convenient sequence. i can't stress this enough: start slow, preferably with a metronome and speed it up when you're comfortable at playing at that speed.

key:
1) get the fingerings right. right means whatever is most comfortable to you, because what others put down might not always work for everyone, but if your music have fingerings labeled, follow them first and see if you must make modifications.
2) relax. you can't play fast without relaxing your forearm. the last thing you want is a tense wrist. let your wrist take your hand left and right on the keyboard, don't depend on your elbow on all the movement by tensing up your forearm and hand.
3) do warm ups before playing. you can't play fast without a warm hand. having your muscles loosened up also helps on the speed.
4) patience. practice a lot, and have patience. have lots of patience. patience is a virtue.

i hope this helped.

:) Like Mango said, you want to practice slowly. VERY, VERY slowly. I don't really play a lot of 32nd notes but...yea, and you might also have trouble playing them depending on how the notes are positioned...if that's the right word for it anyhow. For example, if you have to cross your fingers over a lot that might mess you up, or if the notes just keep going on one pattern several times, that might even mess you up. And like Mango said, I would play warm ups before starting. :heh: But I try not to play too many warm ups because my arms/hands tend to get tired very easily...
