What's the difference? I mean, is the "gamer" one supposed to be more hardcore than player?

I think it's kind of stupid to differentiate between the two. Really, most "gamers" are just elitist morons. AS far as I'm concerned, a real gamer is just someone who enjoys games regardless of the system they're on or the company that made them. Basically someone who likes games for games sake.

gamer dont just play games, trying to beat it as fast as you can and forget them. They try top find all the secrets and they appreciate the effort that the creaters put in to make such a good game... sometimes they play only a selected genre and become professionals thanks to their knowledge...

a player is just someone who plays games to pass the time and sees no difference between fps and jrpg

I'm neither of them then, I don't care about finding all secrets in a game, but I do know the difference between a FPS and a JRPG

i didnt mean all the secrets... for example, in dragonwarrior/dragonquest III some guy says that 'a bard has the strogest weapon ever' later on i meat the bard and he says that he left the weapon home cause hes going to travel the world, so i tried to find the weapon... basically, a person who sometimes does the quests the npc ask him to do can be considered an amateur gamer

a professional gamer will be someone who can beat a hard jrpg faster than average cause he had experience and is quite familiar with this series that hes playing

who the hell created that definition? gamers are people who play games. hardcore gamers are the ones that do all the things you mentioned.

you probably never saw a player... hell be this cool asshole who doesnt care what game he plays, he just picks them at random. a gamer at least haS some preferences...

EDIT:wait ive just realised that things that are typical for russia may not necessary be typical everywhere else... gamer vs. player is just the trend that is observed right now in russia in the gaming industry

what kind of player is that? somebody who doesn't care if a game is good or bad?

seriously, i've never noticed these trends you're describing.

Okay, I voted that I was more of a player then a gamer. I'm a little confused...but a gamer plays video games more then a player, right? That's what I think. -_- I don't play video games a lot...

I'm more of a gamer than a player, as I consider myself better then average on RPGs and stuff like that. I'm not too good at shooting games, but I've played enough games to have a feel where to go, how to respond, what to expect, and how to react. I don't work to get every single detail and secret out of the game, I play it until it gets boring or I beat it, then I move on. Sometimes I'll go back to the game and beat it again.

 one trend of gamers would be to read gaming magazines to find out about good games, look at the reviews, etc. a player will just go to the store unprepared might ask for recomendations from the store guy or pick a game in a flashy box

Gamer-One who plays video games. Must be an expert. One who accepts all video games and doesn’t say they suck when they haven’t played them. Must have played and beaten one old Mega man and FF game (They’re classics!). One who plays a variety of games.

Player-One who plays video games occasionally. Respectable video game person. Plays games but it’s not their thing or they enjoy other things much more.

Obsessor-The lowest form. One who is obsessed with games. They think there really good and they think there better than everyone but they really suck. There those people who buy an okay game five years from the release date and worship it; they play it every day and they talk of nothing but it. Then once the fad is well over they buy the next game that came out eight years ago.

Don't get me wrong... Old games are great but only the classics. Not some old game that a few people have heard about! I my self am a gamer! Gaming is a great hobbie! Long live Games and their Gamers!

I would pick both but you don't have that option
