I have the first season, I watched the first couple of episodes so far, but in the background when doing other things, so it hasn't really grabbed me. I'll give it a chance at some point, properly - current views are it's rather pretty to watch!

Um, honestly the first I knew of Merlin was about 3 weeks ago when we had a stand advertising a promotion with muesli bars at work. Maybe I live under a rock (quite possibly, I live in Canberra after all, the comparison has been made in the past), but just because where YOU happen to live, things are advertised, it doesn't mean they are everywhere :)

ElfenDied has the most horrible English I've seen for a while. Why do people who live in countries where English is the main language (US, UK, Aussieland etc) often have such lousy sense of grammar and spelling?

And you should know that 60% of the population in Michigan — you do know where that is (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Michigan&oe=utf-8&client=iceweasel-a&ie=UTF8&hl=en&z=6&iwloc=A) right; that one Henry Ford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Ford) guy lived there — can no longer keep their houses, and by inheritance their televisions, and that 30% of real estate market in the United States are repossessed and owned by the banks. You should have know that AGES ago!

And one more thing, America doesn't like to talk about the other nations pop culture, and this is not odd at all. The nations that you listed are actually grouped under the name of Commonwealth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Nations) What the crap you talk about globalization, but you completely glaze over this?, and hold strong ties to the European Union. The only thing the United States has that's even close to this is the public relations with Puerto Rico and Liberia.

And to poke fun at myself, the United States technically does not have an official language. Therefore, my bad English is nothing but my very own dialect of the language that changes more frequently than a hooker on Judgment Day. And besides, every day the United States becomes closer to having more people speak Spanish. :heh:

I must say... Hiei provided me a link for a preview to the show and I liked it, so now I'm watching the first episode on Hulu.com and it's actually pretty good, the singer(I think she was a singer?) in the woods, the woman with black hair and a gap in her front teeth, I know her from Torchwood as Gwen, so it's kinda awesome seeing her, even if the old hag like... killed her or w/e.

Oh we are calm. The problem is that you're pointing fingers at ignorance when you yourself were actually ignorant to the subject and the surrounding matters and then insulted our (America's) cultural scoping; in really bad spelling and grammar, which instantly makes me write you off a a 13 year old whom knows nothing outside of what effects your own life. Welcome to the repercussions of your unfounded prejudice.

As for the show, it's okay, but nothing really worth writing home about. Then again, I said the same about Heroes and Smallville which some live by.

:eyebrow: What're you talking about? When did I insult any culture??
All I was trying to prove was that the show does air in the US. I didn't intend on insulting anyone :upset:
If only there were more people in the world who would understand...that would solve all the problems in our world...war probably wouldn't even exist. But what can we do? Not much I guess. . .

Allow me to shed some light on your confusion:

Case:

The problem is that you're pointing fingers at ignorance when you yourself were actually ignorant to the subject and the surrounding matters and then insulted our (America's) cultural scoping

Just because there were "ads about it in every single corner" wherever you live, doesn't mean it's the same everywhere else in the world. You're ignorant about the US' situation (http://forums.ichigos.com/showpost.php?p=427917&postcount=24), yet you condemn them for being ignorant about the show (in other words, M's point about "insulting America's cultural scoping")

That help you?

As for me, I don't care much for it. My mom watches it...that's the most exposure I get from the show.

Watched like 30 seconds worth of Merlin last night; Reminds me more of something that would be on the ABC channel (in Australia) where they show those weird fantasy shows starring British kids as witches or something magical. Those shows aren't really my cup of tea. I didn't think that Infinity would watch it

PS. ElfenDied's post made me lol, a lot. Ahh trolls.

for paradox: Morgana plays a key role in the legends and if i explain i could ruin almost every main plot turn in the series.

Paradox

For Swiftwhisker: I'm too much of a geeky nerd to NOT know all about the lore surrounding Arthur, Merlin, Morgana and the Lady Guinevere.

However, this show has taken so many liberties with the plot to begin with that I just discarded them in a back closet somewhere and ignore the muffled screams and scratching at the door as I watch it.
