Hey, who goes there? I do :P

Winfried Fechner, manager of the WDR Radio Orchestra Cologne […] announced Symphonic Fantasies, a video game music concert that will take place in the Kölner Philharmonie on September 12, 2009. Tickets for the event sold out at the beginning of April 2009, necessitating a second concert at the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, on September 11, 2009.

The performance is dedicated to Japanese developer Square Enix and will include arrangements of compositions from Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Kingdom Hearts. Symphonic Fantasies will be opened with an original composition by Jonne Valtonen, the "Fanfare overture", to set the mood for listeners prior to the performance of completely new Square Enix arrangements.

This year, it's in Köln (in Germany)! There will be Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger) and Yoko Shimomura (Final Fantasy Versus XIII).

The best seats cost 17 € for students, 32,50 € else.

God, I hate hearing about this kind of stuff and not being able to go. Like that Yoko Kanno concert or when Muse went to Wembley. I'm on the wrong continent =/

Anyway, this sounds pretty cool. I'm interested to hear the new arrangements (once they pop up on the internet)

Why are you spamming one of your other threads that has no relation to this thread?

Actually, there IS a relation:
Symphonic Fantasies → Concert in Europe → Yui Makino Concert in Europe :)

Ohhh cool. Though I'm more of a fan of anime music personally, it's nice to see these sort of concerts becoming more common these days.

On another note, has anyone heard of Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensou? It's an album released with orchestral arrangements of the anime. All the pieces are really well arranged IMO, but the amount of screw-ups in the performance suggests that it was a live recording. Can anyone confirm that?

Then any rock concert would relate too. That's bullshit.

OT: I guess Spoons lost interest already since I haven't heard anything about this from her anymore.

Rather “any game/anime concert in Europe”...
What does “OT” mean?

Edit: By the way, I haven't listened to Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensou yet but some friends told me it was great.

^ It's quite good. The orchestration is very creative, and definitely puts a different feel to the songs. They had the original singers sing a few of the songs with orchestral accompaniment though. Though if you ask me, I'd say the vocals were completely unnecessary, and they didn't sound too good either x.x
