Hello. I have searched for hours on end trying to find the Main Theme of the Legend of Zelda. Please note I do not mean the Overworld Theme, so I have yet to find it on Herbalcell. If you have any sheet music of any level for the Main Theme, please post it here. Thanks!

Do you mean the starting theme for a certain zelda game (you know, when the music is playing and it says press start to continue). If so just tell me the name of the certain zelda game I should be able to get it for you.

It might be, but I don't know which one. All I know is that it's the actualy main theme. Let me see if I can dig up a link...

Please note that I want the song that starts with this intro (Though I'm not sure if he played it right...) and doesn't go into the Overworld. Thanks!

How about a medley of several overworlds including the intro? That way it's something unique and interesting. I have a bunch of piano sheet music from many different overworlds.

Since there are no very nice transcriptions of the Main Theme, I will finally take the time to write down my transcription. I'll post it on Ichigo's Sheet Music, and tell you when it's up (I'll give a link to it too). Just be patient, young Padawan.

Excuse my double-post. I've worked on this today here and there, and I have surprisingly got it finished. I would post a link to Ichigo's Sheet music, but it's not letting me upload my MIDI or PDF. Nevertheless, I'll post it here until I can get it on the website.

Enjoy!

Isn't there already an arrangement of this from gamemusicthemes.com? I find w3sp's arrangement much more accurate than your arrangement (please don't hurt me, I'm expressing my honest opinion). Measure 14 was off (the last two 8th notes in the upper staff). I notice you like adding blocks of chords everywhere below the melody. There's none of that in the original version, but if it's your preference that's fine; just wanted to let the OP know.

The key signature is centered around Bb major, not Bb minor. People have the tendency to look over a score and try to eliminate as many accidentals they can with the correct key. Notice you start the piece in Bb major and ended it in Bb major. Key signatures aren't used to reduce or minimize accidentals to the contrary belief. I don't know how to explain this, but the chord progression holds some bearing in relation to the key. You'll feel a sense of gravity in a song when it wants to return to the original key, and it's not Bb minor.

To put into "chord progression" perspective: Bb: I, v, bVI, bIII, bII, i, II, V, then it returns to I. It doesn't matter what goes on in between as the song is still centered in correlation to I. Does it make sense? I'm not really good at explaining things :heh:

Thank-you for the suggestion, but I don't need to be lectured on my notation. The "writing" of musical notation is simple-- to convey what notes should be played and at what time. If the key signature WAS in Bb major, then accidentals WOULD be all over the place, and (in fact) the piece would be centered around Bb minor instead of Bb major.

A piece is never "centered" around a key if only the first/last chord is the same. It's centered around a key due to the ENTIRE piece. How many other compositions out there start with different chords of which is written in the key signature? Quite a bit. I've played a Chopin sonata which obviously starts in C# minor, but the piece is in Bb minor and the last chord even ends in Bb major. Please, don't criticize my notation. It's a hell of a lot cleaner in Bb minor (which it should be) than it would be in Bb major.

Furthermore, if you're going to compare my arrangement/transcription to w3sp, you better believe I'm going to look at it. Here's my opinion:

It's more accurate, yes. This is more of an exact transcription that it is an "arrangement" for the piano. I still find my notation in Bb minor cleaner than the Bb major-- it makes more sense, practically. I like w3sp's transcription of the piece, and I'll probably edit mine to accommodate some of my faults in transcription, however, if you can look at mine and complain that I have block chords, then don't talk to me. After all, I've arranged it. I've made it more suitable for the piano. This means in terms of playability (which it is difficult, but very playable) and in terms of sound, color and timbre on the piano. This piece sounds a lot better with octaves in the bottom and fuller chords in the right hand-- and don't say it's like "adding block chords everywhere" because they make melodic sense, especially if you're a pianist who understands voicing in chords.

Excuse me if I sound defensive (because I am being defensive) but I did take in what you have to say, I thought about it, and here's my response and backing myself up.

Fair enough. I'll consult my music professor on the key signature thing just to be sure though. Maybe he can explain.

Btw what's the difference between "transcription" and "arrangement"? I always thought transcription meant a near perfect exact copy while arrangement means the rewriting of a piece with new material or written for another instrument. It's a virtuoso version to me lol.

On the key signature issue, we are both right. However, unless I'm writing a piece of ("serious") music, I'll pay more attention to what is practical in the theoretical sense. I am a performer, pianist, score-reader, etc. I don't like to have a messy score just because the progression follows another key and the "legibility" of the score is sacrificed. These pieces of music which people transcribe aren't made for people who even know these things, just people who enjoy playing the music.

You're right on the terms of transcription and arrangement. I've transcribed this piece (in which the melody and chord progression are "transcribed in the music from my ear") and I arranged the piece for the piano (in which the musical material transcribed is written more fit to the piano). You mentioned "new material" which is not the case. Sure, some things may be added, but it doesn't mean there always has to be new material, just a different way of present the same material. I used chords and things like that to my disposal so I could make it sound better on the piano. Does my version not sound a little more full than the previous mentioned? I don't really care, since his version is 100% accurate, and mine is about 90% or so.

Thanks brncao for the suggestions. I like being questioned every once in a while so I can see if I am actually doing the right things. XD

Thank you for posting that, but there's still another version of the song that it seems like no one has sheet music for... Sorry I had you make that before I could post...

urk I'll see if I can find a better example...

That's perfect. I mean that is the song I want, not the Brawl version.

You link us to the brawl version, and that's what you want, but then you said not the brawl version? Which is it?

In any case from that link it's basically the Title Screen + Labyrinth. There are sheet music for those.

Yeah I should've worded that better... I'm looking for that song for piano pretty much, or at least the one that sounds like that...

i've read through both your arrangement and w3sp's .. while they both sound fantastic, personally i really enjoy yours.. maybe because it is a bit more challenging. thanks for posting it!!
