Just bought the game a few hours ago, and it's amazing. Just like Super Contra on the SNES, but with a few little graphical tweaks (it still looks awesomely 16-bit, though). Anyway, it's balls-to-the-walls hard, pure oldschool challenge and fun. I played the first few levels with my little brother just now, and it was probably the most fun I've had with any game over the past three years or so. Completely awesome.

The game opens up with you exploding through the window of a space station from your helicopter (don't ask me how that works). At the end of the level, you fight a giant space centipede while you're standing on falling bits of the space station you just owned.

The second level opens with a huge robot picking up a cute little girl, presumably to crush her with his giant robo-claws. Thankfully, YOU FALL OUT OF FUCKING OUTER SPACE JUST IN TIME TO KICK HIS FUCKING HEAD OFF. THE FIRST LEVEL THEME OF SUPER CONTRA OPENS UP, AND YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO KICK ASS. WELCOME TO CONTRA: REBIRTH! GET READY TO DIE OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!

Anyway, yeah. Everyone, go buy that off of wiiware right now, unless you're one of those pansy new gamers who can't handle a challenge. XD

Edit: Just beat it on hard, will be beating it again on unlocked nightmare mode this weekend. Such a fun game. Almost broke my controller a few times, though. X3

Just another bit of news, not that you tasteless bastards will be interested:
it looks like Konami might be starting a full "Rebirth" line on Wiiware. The next one up is a Castlevania title!

You say Contra on Snes but there is only one real contra game and that's the first one on NES :D
