Haruhi returns with a cloak, three red candles, and a human science dummy, but they don't have bats, so she and Tsuruya head off to collect bats.

Koizumi: Most likely, the pumpkin, cloak, and stuff are for him to wear.

The cloak is placed on the dummy with the pumpkin over its head, the hole at the bottom revealing its creepy skeleton mouth. The lit red candles are placed on three sections of the top of the pumpkin while the bats tied to the cloak fly and flap around, squeaking.
Koizumi: This guy is seriously looking strange.
Kyon: It feels like we're enshrining some evil god.

Tsuruya explains the purpose of Halloween and talks about candy given to children.
Haruhi: Oh! So that's how you celebrate Halloween? Somewhere along the way I changed it to enshrining the original god.
