Yes, this sounds like one of the thousands (I mean, two, I think) threads that already exist about this: However, I'm not asking how do you record something, and then put it into the computer; I'm asking, how do you record something on the computer, and then put it... into the computer!

Basically, say you have a youtube video you want to record (providing you've dealt with copyright issues and so on and so forth). How do you record that?

If there's also a thread about this issue, then it's my fault for being a n00b D:

I'm going to assume you are asking for video recordings. But just in case I'll add in the sound recording as well.

For YouTube videos, the easier way is to use the YouTube downloader. Goes for many other video playbacks.

For IMEEM, use Orbit. If it's a video, use Orbit to download the .flv file then use YouTube downloader to convert it.

For any others, if it's streamed, go to your browser's temporary files folder and dig out the video file. Then do whatever you want with it.

If you want to record a video in a computer and put it in a computer... Just use the programs.

For sounds produced by the computer, make sure your Stereo Mix is unmuted, then turn on whatever sound recording program you have, and start recording. Well, if I'm not wrong it's Stereo Mix. Either way, personally I wouldn't recommend this because the quality...sucks.
