... I play some of it but im not 'big' on it.

Anyway... assignment I have to put 3x 20 min programmes together and only one piece from before 1970 is allowed and each programme should preferably have something written after 2000.

I've got 5 ideas at the moment (am brainstorming) but I'm short of time in each programme so any suggestions. or any opinions on the programmes I already have would be good. Also which 3 of these 5 sound more interesting to people?

I realise there is a piece suggestion thread but posts can easily be ignored there and this is important.

Program 1: Theme= Light and Dark (needs a 5/6 min piece that fits the 'Light' theme)

Scriabin- Sonata nr 9
Lachenmann- Clouds in Icy Moonlight
Danielpour- From the Underground

Program 2: Theme= Seasons (5 mins short- need either a 'summery' or 'wintery' piece preferably post 2000- unfortunately I can't combine the two as Debussy and Bax were before 1970)

Takemitsu- Rain Tree Sketch II
Debussy- L'Isle Joyeuse or Bax- Winter Waters
Ligeti- Automne a Varsovie

Program 3. Any suggestions for a title? (2/3 minutes short)

Messiaen- Un reflet dans le vent
Takemitsu- Rain Tree Sketch II (in Memoriam Olivier Messiaen)
Knussen- Prayer Bell Sketch (in memory of Toru Takemitsu)

Programme 4: Birdsong (needs 4/5 mins)

Liszt- Legend nr 1
Messiaen- Le merle noir and Le rouge gorge from 'Petites esquisse d'Oiseaux'

Programme 5: Japanese Piano Music (may be slightly too long so any suggestions for alternatives welcomed)

Takemitsu- Litany
Ichiyanagi- Piano Poem
Fujikura- Frozen Heat
