Please no FF series and marios.

Anyone have some good Nintendo DS games to recommend. I'm quite bored these days and looking for something mildly addicting. I'm open to any genres so if you guys know of something good, please do share.

Scribblenaughts, Chrono Trigger, KH 358/2 Days, and I hear Rhythm Heaven and The World Ends With You are also pretty good games. And I've always been a fan of the Pokemon games like Yellow, Gold, Diamond, etc.

Umm. Taiko for addiction. You could try crayon shin-chan games if you have already played all the popular ones.

Phantasy star zero, Zelda, Devil survivor, Disgaea, Dragon quest games, Nostalgia, Fossil fighters, Summon Night Twin age, (Suikoden Tierkreis is a must play), Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Trace memory, Ace attorney games, touch detective, Professor layton games. Too many, you have to choose genre.

Games you must not play: Flower, Sun and Rain, Theresia, Imagine games

Dope, how could I forget advanced wars duel strike. If you like strategy, that's the best out there imo

Drawn to Life is a god game, also if you're looking for good anime games, playstation has the good ones. But for DS the graphics aren't so good :s
Harvest Moon is ok, Lost Magic is great. pokemon is good. i've been wanting to get scribblenauts... that may not be the right spelling

Harvest Moon is shocking. Play it on GBA if you want, that's the best version.

Harvest moon can only be enjoyed with cheats. At least that's what I think!

Nah, I love planting hundreds of pineapples, and getting massive rewards. And the horse races were fun too, betting on yourself because you knew you'd win :P

Taiko no tatsujin is my addiction. Layton is fun - tetris is the ultimate timewaster, no matter what platform it's on ;) Chibi Robot is a fun little one I wasted many hours on. And rhythm heaven is nuts. It's possible it makes a little more sense in the English version as opposed to the Japanese one I have though ;)

Wow, I have a terrible memory. Tetris DS is awesome, I've clocked marathon countless times on level 20 :)

Metroid Prime Hunters. Best fps for ds there is. Not to mention it sticks to the same style and feel as mp1, 2 and 3. Lots of gameplay hours for single and multiplayer. The mana series games are good rpg's as well. I also picked up Guilt Gear Dust Strikers last week; good fighting game with awesome gameplay, only thing is that the storyline sucks badly.

thanks for all the tips guys. keep em comming, I've found chrono trigger pretty enjoyable so far. These titles certainly gave me a bunch to check out. What is the mana series? sounds interesting.

PS: does anyone know anything about an RPG that lets you have real time combat or a battle system where u can actually control your character so theres alot more skills involved then calculating hp numbers. I played this one game a long time ago that was exactly what I was looking for but I've long forgotten the name of that game. The storyline was something about collecting crystal shards to save the world.

Eh... I don't own a DS.

Anyways, Real-time as in zelda? (I think that was real-time, or at least I think A Link to the Past was) What do you mean by that?

not quite, the RPG was kind of like FF but the battle was not turn based. You still ran around a giant map until a you encounter a monster though. The different buttons would trigger different attacks, and you would use simple combos like street fighters to cast spells. Of course, like any 2D fighting game, u can jump and dodge and all that. There would be cool down on the skills so you can't just keep using it. If anyone's played ragnarok battle offline, they would know exactly what the battles look like. Numbers would fly up just like in FF when a hit lands. The monster attacks are avoidable or blockable most of the time as long as you know how to avoid them. You would level up, earn new skills, and find new weapons and armor which is different from zelda as you don't necesarily level up.

Well, first off, that's a description of an Action JRPG (non turned based fighting). and the entire Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Crystal_Chronicles_(series)) series kinda fits the description.

"crystal shards"
sounds like final fantasy

But one of the first "good" ds games i purchased was Castlevania: Dawn of sorrow. Damn, that game was good fun! Lots of monsters and other badies to kill with butt loads of weapons and skills to learn. The story was a bit off since i have never played any other castlevania game ever (besides the one i have on the katendo 64). Also its a tad bit old so you could probably pick it up for a deal.

Ps. if you do get that game look up how to get the rpg.....haha so fun

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and the other 5 games. They're heavily storyline based, so there's no replay value, but they're quite fun. And addictive.

The World Ends With You has an amazing plot, as well as a unique battle system. Best RPG for the DS.

Pokemon is okay, but only if you're into it. Personally, I don't like the changes that were done with DPP, but that's personal preference.

KH 358/2 Days is pretty fun as an action rpg, but it might not be too interesting plot-wise if you don't know the backstory.

Scribblenauts is a lolgame that's addictive. 'Nuff said.

I think I know that game (similar to Ragnarok Online), but I don't know the name. It's also in Japanese. Something Knights?

Elite Beat Agents.

I never played KH 1 or 2, so that's probably why I thought the end of the game sucked. But I won't give any spoilers, seeing how I don't know how to use spoiler tags. The gameplay was really awesome, but if you're looking for something with a good storyline, then you'll want something else. Personally, I thought the gameplay made up for that. The other downside is the customization. It's pretty cool, but only if you have the patience to do it. While I think Chain of Memories connected KH 1 and 2 or something like that, 358/2 days does nothing of the sort.

KH 358/2 Days is pretty much just a backstory on Roxas. How/why he became part of the Organization and how/why he ended up leaving which connects to KH 2. If you ever get to play KH 1 and 2 you might understand it better. There is a connection.

I personally enjoyed the 358/2 Days very much.

I recently finished FF crystal chronicles - Rings of Fate and it was AWSOME! I've always gotten tired of the other FF before I finished so I was pretty surprised that i actually managed to finish this one  Thanks for that tip! I still can't remember what the game I played before was called though :( . I've got pretty much all the ones I've found interesting based on the suggestions you guys gave me.

Recently got contra 4, haven't played it yet. Anyone know of a good airplane shooting game for the DS? The kind where you get items and upgrade your lasers or missiles or w/e in the level. Not quite starfox though that was a great game too. I prefer something more 2D like what you might find in the arcade or SNES.
