Hello, good to be here, first time user hooray!

I am in need of a bunch of anime and game scores, orchestral sheetmusic, particularly for VIOLA.

Especially Final Fantasy, Halo, or anything by Miyamotos writers
(zelda, MARIO BROS. etc.)

Any search suggestions? I see alot of violin and piano but that's about it.
Maybe someone could tell me: can a viola easily use the same
sheetmusic as violin or it has to be transposed? Or perhaps you would
suggest a place to purchase what Im looking for?

anyway, thank you kindly for your time and your assistance!

The viola can easily play violin music. Some songs may have to be transposed an octave down to make it easier, and it would help if you can transfer from treble to alto clef. You can also play piano songs too, but you would have to pick out the melody out of the rest of the notes, which is usually the top note. But you can basically take any song for any other instrument and play it for viola, unless you want to learn harmony parts.

Oh that is great, thank you for the info, that is very helpful! So, in terms of 'ease of use' would you guess that an expert viola player can just play most violin music on site, or would you suggest that I transpose for the octave drop, before I give it to them? Its for a gift so I want them to be able to pick it up and play.

Thanks again for your help : )

http://www.animeonstrings.org/ is a sight dedicated to transcriptions for strings, and they have a section devoted to viola, with music written in the alto clef.

You can, as others have suggested, play the treble parts of piano/instrumental sheet music down an octave at times. It would depend on how advanced the player is, as I know some viola players who have a little difficulty reading into the treble range at times.

Wow, that is so great, thank you!

Based on what ive heard so far, I have begun downloading the PDFs that contain quartet, symphony or violin pieces. The person I am compiling these for is a master from a serious conservatory, so I think they will be okay in reading violin parts on the fly, unless Im way off the mark here and it requires more than just an octave drop or a couple inversions.

However, transposing it will benefit my extremely lacking theory chops. I can barely read sheet music, let alone play it (mostly a producer) so getting into the software and transposing the violin and piano parts for viola will be an added bonus for me.

Now if I can only find music from Halo and Super Mario Brothers, my master plan will be complete! :)

thanx again folks

Ummm, viola can't "easily" play violin sheet music, it's on an entirely different clef and octave. Nothing more to add to my post.... bleh
