Well.. Here's recent picture of mine... I'm a bit out of practice ('cos I've been so busy doing other, boring school work) and my shading's so rusty that I didn't really even bother :\ ... But, here you go anyway... posted for comments and crits - whatever you like :)

....Damn, I went to so much effort on those legs... then gave her a long skirt.. Don't you hate it when you do that?

Here she is - shrunk down to about 30% - "Veranna of the Flowers" (the names you think up at midnight............^^;;)

That's a really nice drawing! ^_^ I like her outfit. Um...are you going to post up some more of your drawings soon? :blink:

Maria: Maybe.... I haven't been drawing very much lately because I'm trying to concentrate on exams, so there isn't much to show... Also I'm too lazy to scan things into my computer very often :\

However I expect that once I'm finished exams I'll be drawing as much as I can (I have to - I'm needing to complete a folio within two weeks to present for my multimedia course interview... I'll have to do lots very, VERY quickly!) So I'll post lots then :)

Oh, and I could also point out that the piccie on the left (my avatar) is also one of mine, but it's really old.... The word is "betrayal" 'cos that's what I interpreted her expresion to mean..... I guess I could post a bigger image of that.. But it's pretty bad.. The eyes were _way_ crooked, so I tried to fix them up in this art program I was using the other day.......

Anyway, I'm glad you like my Veranna (or whatever her name was..) I liked her clothes too - I can even imagine how they might be made... It's a very simple design, but quite sweet ^^*

Souma: I hadn't even thought about her neck X_X But now that you mention it, I think I can see what you mean. Her face is a bit untidy, too, but this really is only a quick sketch of a character... I'll have to think some more about that neck, though - I'm usually too busy concentrating on their torso and legs to think about a neck!

here's something I found the other day that I'd forgotten all about.... It's a piccie I did for a friend's birthday card. An underwater-dragon :)

hehe :)

Thanks!

I just finished my exams so now I don't feel guilty about mucking about in forums all day :)

Here's a more recent picture.. I drew it about a week ago... The words are "And dread the day when dreaming ends" but "ends" got chopped off 'cos my scanner's too small... :(

Here's the 25% version :)

lala... and while I'm on a roll..... (and 'cos I still haven't figured out how to post more than one pic in one post.......)

Here's another "broken dreams" type pic that's still not really finished, but it's more a concept..... (Inspired by an ad on tv... some of you might've seen it.. they chop everything in half :()

lala... and here's another... very BLUE image :P

I did it while I was meant to be studying, 'cos I was sooooo sick of maths... it's just pen, so you can still see my guidelines and mucky bits.. The mouth's meant to be open, but I think I might just make it look pouty.. :P

Oh, it says offcenter, 'cos something about it seemed a bit wrong (prolly 'cos I really wasn't concentrating while I was drawing....... :P)

Yay for me... I went to a few interviews for the multimedia course I'm interested in next year... and one place accepted me into multimedia while another was almost pleading with me to go and do design... *blushes* ...they spent the whole interview trying to convince me to become a designer..... but advertising is so .. boring.... I wanna go make computer games and movies and animated stuffs..... not crappy milk-cartons.. x_=;;

oh wells.... you can all enjoy my excitement ^^*

one thing that I notice with the first picture is that the head is a little out of proportion. 8:1 is good for classical figures, but for anime it's usually better to go with a 7:1 proportion. Her head is also a bit off kilter...it's hard to describe, but one way to get a good idea is to draw a circle and put the eyes 1/2 way down, and draw a v from the eyes down. Halfway from the eyes to the vertex goes the nose, and halfway from the vertex to the nose goes the mouth. And I agree, the face does look rushed. But it's always the hardest part to draw. Keep up the hard work, I can tell you have talent.

Hmm, I have no constructive criticism because I suck. But, I like them all. I wish I could draw like you. T.T;;
And, is the writing on your pictures in your normal handwriting? If yes, I totall dig your handwriting.

^_^

Thankyou very much caska... I think I know what you mean about the proportions.. I find it hard to do anime proportions - it's really something I should work on more. With her head, I usually do mine as a circle, then a triangle on the base of the circle which extends down another third below the circle and then the eyes go at the midway point... Then I usually decide the head looks too big and .. chop off a bit..

That's probably where I lose the 7:1 and become 8:1, now I think about it...

As for the neck.. I think it's a shade too long, particularly considering the angle.. it probably could have been shorter between that left shoulder and ear......

Yoshinobu I've only been drawing anime-style (rather than american style) for the past year and a half. All I do is copy other artists. I copy Tackmer (silver metal no yume) and Fred Gallagher (fredart/megatokyo) and Julie Dillon (jdillon) ... and lots of othger people...... But thanks for the praise :D I'm still no where near as good as I wish I were......

Oh! And the reason why those interviewers wanted me to become a designer is because of my "typework" (handwriting) .. Garr... I just like writing things....... It's fun! But that's not quite my normal handwriting... it's too time consuming to write like that all the time.... I do this sort of scrawlish version when I'm in a rush or feeling lazy :P

Noir .. I'd poke you back..... but I can't remember the shortcuts and I'm in "fast reply" ... O_X
