Certainly a lively little piece, now isn't it? I really like a lot of your ideas and your motifs, but it feels like a lot happens for no reason. It doesn't feel organic. You know what I mean. It sounds a little like you sat down at Finale and were like "Oh, this would be cool. And so would this! Now let's try this idea." I'd polish it up and work on the transitions, and you've got yourself a fun little piano solo.

Also, have you had a human play through this yet? You might find you'd like to change some stuff to make it a touch less awkward for performance.

Too many trills! D:

I agree with alfonso, in that I had no idea where your melody was going. The ending was too dramatic, which made it less dramatic...

As a piano major, I can say that the piece would be a ton of fun to play. Right now though it needed polishing. You have good ideas, you just need to make them mesh together well. Also, your ending feels like you ran out of ideas and just ended. It was too sudden. The whole piece is real lively but the it's like "Running running running, BRICK WALL!" and then the pieces fall off the wall. :heh: Ease into your ending and you will be fine.

Keep up the good work.

Also, kudos on writing a fast piece. I know that I myself cannot write fast pieces. It is much harder to write fast pieces that slow ones. Keep up the good work.

Haha, this reminds me of some of Bach's pieces, since this song incorporates sections where the pair of notes blends well with each other in terms of sound, like from 0.55 to 1.16. I like the LH articulation from 0.27 to 0.42. (Sorry I had to use the song duration to describe rather than the sheet music measure.) Anyways, looks very challenging to play! @_@

This piece sounded REALLY epic! XD Like Pezzelle said though, it does feel like someone is running and suddenly crashes into something. Try to make this less random and maybe expand the melody a bit.

The biggest thing I have to say about this piece is perhaps make it more pianistic. As Alfonso said you might want to have a pianist try to play through the piece a tempo. Some places are very awkward and would require the technique of say, Hamelin to play. I think there are other more doable techniques you could use and get nearly the same affect. For example, instead of having repeated thirds on the same note (mm. 46) you could have a tremolo, or perhaps repeat only one of the note.

As far as the piece itself, there is some nice writing in it. However, it never really says anything for me. The same basic texture, and everything is diatonic, and the slow middle section seems out of place. All in all, an admiral first piano piece that you should be proud of, and the ability to create a piece off of a melody a friend gave you is a skill that I commend. I'll be looking for your next composition.

Hey man I just had a listen! So fast.. Couldn't play it hehe. It would be great to try and get a live recording so if you can find a pianist to play this then it's gonna be good! Favourite part was actually 15 seconds in because either you changed the harmonic ideas to find an interesting colour there or you are using your regular harmonies in a sequence that gives it a preceptive change. At least to my ears. Sweet~!

I like it.
But for some reason, it sounded like something that should be violin + piano.
Especially near the end where the music really accelerates.
