Wow what a huge ancient Greek/European bias. But I guess it is most famous, and Tristian and Isolde are more familiar to people all across the globe, then some random Hindu lovers...

If Napoleon is on there, where's Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun? Lol.

Napoleon is known for his romantic side along with the historical aspects of his being; thus why the literature, paintings, sculptures, and architecture he inspired and harbored are remembered, along with his love life.

When it comes to Hitler, it seems that unless you live in a specific area of Europe, all people will know of him is the war aspects of his being.

Another interesting thing most people don't know is that Napoleon was actually a rather good chess player. He took great interest in chess and considered it an inspiration for real-time battle tactics. Unfortunately, not many of his games remain, and some question the authenticity of the ones that do remain (http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1250609).

@ Original list. I really enjoyed Cyrano de Bergerac as well... Though I don't think it can so much be described as a romantic relationship than an one-sided obsession for most of the story. Still a memorable story with a fantastic ending though.

Well, more well known. I'm sure more people know more of Napoleon beyond war, then people know of Hitler beyond war.

Hm...well, considering what I've been reading, mine has been mostly been relationships which fail, big time. Medea and Jason, anyone~?

Though I guess...Raskolnikov and Sonia of Crime and Punishment works...possibly. I guess. It's kind of a shame the former ax murdered some innocent people.

Funny how a spambot can actually create a topic people seem to find interesting :P

Yes yes, I obviously knew it was a spambot too right from the onset; but I commented anyways merely to humor those that are less perceptive than myself.
