Hey there. Today, I was browsing a local music shop, looking for keyboards, and I found a good keyboard by Yamaha called the P85. I played a few songs on it, and it sounded good in my opinion. I'm thinking about getting it due to the price of 529$ (on sale currently), but before I do, may I have some people who have/heard/played the keyboard opinions about it?

As far as I know, Yamaha is currently selling the P Series Keyboard consisting of the P-85, P-95 and P-155 keyboards only. The P-55 keyboard that you mentioned may be an obsolete model, so double-check the keyboard's features and usability to see if it is worth the $530 as an obsolete version.

Anyways, the P Series Keyboard is not an impressive keyboard in terms of sound and function, but it is a decent-looking keyboard and it has all the basic requirements for a piano-like keyboard. The P-Series is good for those looking for a simple keyboard under a limited budget. You won't be able to derive superior pianistic sounds from the keyboard of course, but if you're not really looking for an authentic sound quality, then the keyboard should be okay for you. If you're looking for a better version of the Yamaha keyboard, then you should get the Yamaha DGX-620 keyboard, it is a more reliable model compared to the P Series. Hope this helps! ^_^

Thank you very much for your post :D! I just realized that I have made a typo in my post and thread. It's actually the P85 that I was looking at. I'm just looking for a simple keyboard which I may bring to my friend's parties and be able to play at, and a keyboard which I may practice with in my room, but I would like something with an authentic sound quality. I already have an upright Yamaha piano (though it's a bit out of tune :p). I'll look for the DGX-620 that you have mentioned and see if it serves my purposes. Again, thank you for your post.
