Yes, yes, go ahead and play FFVII if you must. It IS a good game, and a great introduction to the concept of the series, considering it's what got a lot of people into the series when it came out. But then play FFVI because it's the best one. Then play FFVIII because it's also incredibly badass. You can play IX and X if you want, because they're neat and have good stories, but as far as I'm concerned you can stop there. Most of the stuff before VI is good, but long, very difficult, and detail-oriented to the point of being boring.

The only game I've played out of the Final Fantasy universe was Final Fantasy XIII. It's really hard and it gets boring at the boss. *Yikes! I'm stuck at a level!* I might also check out Final Fantasy VIII and IX with X if I have time. Thanks!

Back from several month long dive and first thing I see (or rather, the only thing I see in the games section now) is yet another FF thread. hooray. I swear there used to be like a million other threads until some angry admin killed it all and yet they still manages to pop up every now and then...

First play 6,7,10 (in any order) These three are basically the best old school, transition into the new, and post(pre?) disaster FFs. now depending on which you liked best, if you want to play more of the same..

6 -> 4,5,9. Simple classic story, Fun in the way tetris is. Timeless.
7 -> 8. Now 7 is old. But back in 1997 it was so.... 1997.
10 -> 10-2, 12. They're still great games, apparently. And the guys are cute and the girls are hot. Apparently.

definitely 6 and 9, 8 and 4 are also pretty good.

Hm... I heard that Final Fantasy X was really popular too..

seven, though 10 is pretty darn, uh, entertaining too. the one that just came out, 13, is proving to be pretty cool so far.

Really? I've been watching a couple of trailers on Final Fantasy X. It looks really awesome that I should really try it out. Anyway, I heard there's Final Fantasy X-2. Is that true?

Final Fantasy VIII.... I should check that out right away since I have a bit of a spare time right now.
