Hey guys!

So I'm new here and I'm also a violin beginner, I had my first lesson today.
I also play the guitar for 3 years now ^^

BUT
I was wondering I really ADORE the covers of Aerith's theme, Price of Freedom, Simple and Clean on youtube, but I was wondering, those songs, what level are they considered? easy? medium or really hard? :3

Yes, I'm considering starting viola too (cause violin is overplayed! I doubt with my skill in the foreseeable future I'll be able to do anything with violin :V), cause it's part of a highschool course I'm taking :V

About how would ya classify an 'easy' song on such an instrument? Are they necessarily hard to learn? And around how 'hard' would ya be able to play after approximately a year of studying (assuming 2 hours a day of practice, every day)?

I've heard rumours it's terribly hard, but the end result is nice, so... :)

Single notes, Smooth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oErrwZ3xDvU&fmt=22)

Violin may be somewhat overplayed, but classical string instruments are notorious for being really tough to master.
If 1 in 10 pianists can become really good, then only 1 in 100 violinists can reach a high level.

As for which stringed instrument... switching between violin and viola is like having different tuning configurations on a guitar.
From what I've experienced though, violin seems to take slightly more skill.

is that your excuse? :p highschool? I do high school too and I go jogging every other night, and guitar lesson, violin lesson, notenleer,.... :p and drawing school too, so if highschool is your only excuse ;p

violin is not hard to pick up
to be really good and considered as such by others is not so much
i only wish my fingers were dexterous and nimble enough to be better than i am or even was, since i haven't played violin in years

dexterity yet accuracy, it's quite unforgiving in those aspects in many songs

And moving just the left hand instead of right...

:V Oh well, more piano practice for me :P

@Xion not an excuse, it's a reason. Different things :P

What's notenleer anyways?

okay ;p but for example, how long do you have to play violin to play (for example) a 'easy' kingdom hearts violin sheet? 1 week? 1 month? 6 months? years?
