Hi All!

So we've bitten the bullet (the vBullet?) and coughed up the dough to upgrade to 4.x. What a difference! Some new features you will notice right away:

Everything works. Search, etc.
Modern look with new themes: Rosy Red, Icy Blue, and Minty Green! They can be chosen at the bottom of the page or in your control panel.
Facebook connect: Link your Facebook account and post "like" thread/posts/etc.
Friends: You can now add friends.
Much more! Explore around and see what's now!

To use Facebook, go to Settings -> Edit Connections in your Control Panel and link your Facebook account. You will then get an option to "publish to facebook" when you make a post or thread, and a "like" button will appear at the top of every thread.

If anyone notices anything that doesn't work, please post in this thread. Enjoy!

Oh dear, everything seems nice except for that ugly button 'view signature'.

Edit: In General Settings, I have Thread Display Options > Show Signatures and that view signature button is still there. Is there anyway I can view everyones signatures automatically as before?

The new Ichigo is quite awesome, especially when they have the color "Minty Green." :) Guess it'll take a while to adjust to it. :P

Quick question, when I logged in, I checked the box that said "Remember Me" and while I left for an hour or so, I came back and they logged me out. Is it suppose to be like that? :\

Gekkeiju
November 18th, 2010, 08:59 pm
Ooh. I dont like the way its refusing to remember me, so i have to log in everytime, even though i hit the remember me function and have firefox set to remember it too. is this a ploy to get me to look at more ads :(

Haha, Nam Sach indeed. I was just about to post a screenshot of that too.

This will take some getting used to. :)

Spoiler functionality is currently broken. I'm working on fixing it.

I've worked out a solution that's closer to what other forums are using now. In addition, I added the extra capability to specify a "description" for the spoiler, as it was common for the older tag to be used without any description regarding what was inside the spoiler.

I also added some magic to the mash as well.

Such as:

Working on getting some music-related stuff for the composition forums. Rest assured, it may be epic.

AWESOME!

I was surprised when everything looked different and then I remembered about the vB 4.0 update XD
Hmm, now that the forums has been updated, I might take on the header challenge :3

So how does this Facebook thing work?

Hyperlinks are quite hard to see in the Blue theme. Such as this (http://forums.ichigos.com/) (view this post in the Blue theme to see what I mean). Might want to make the hyperlink text a more stronger blue.

Gand: Firefox 3.6.10

and, no :/

Is it when you are idle for a bit (say, >15 minutes) then click something and suddenyl you are logged out, or are you just clicking around and you are immediately logged out? Are you checking "remember me" when logging in? Did you have this issue before (in 3.x)?

Gekkeiju
November 19th, 2010, 11:07 pm
It is when idle, or if i navagate away, but keep the browser open. or if i close the browser. No i didnt have the issue before and yes im checking the box.

The BB_Session_Hash value is set to delete at end of session, which means when you close out of your browser, open it up again, and browse to Ichigos, you'll be logged out. This is expected when you don't have the check box marked, but I marked it every time so far. I've also been unable to maintain my login status.

Gand
November 19th, 2010, 11:17 pm
I can't replicate the problem... but try again now, I've made a few changes. you might also want to upgrade FF to see if that helps

Gand
November 19th, 2010, 11:44 pm
Oh, and for the change to take effect, be sure to clear all cookies related to ichigos.com or forums.ichigos.com.. or just clear ALL cookies. Otherwise you'll never be able to log out XD

I've acquired a small list of problems with steps and pictures to reimplement. Hope it helps in dissecting the problem.

Environment: Firefox 3.6.12
OS: Fedora 14
Proxy: None

Theme is not Associated by Profile
As a user, when I login to the forums with "remember me" selected, any theme changes I've made is forgotten after deleting the cookies. The theme in version 3.0 used to be reinstated at login. For example:
Browse to Ichigos.com
Click Login
Fill in your credentials, check "Remember Me"
Scroll to the bottom of the forum and select a theme other than Rosy Red.
Logout of the forum
Delete all cookies regarding *ichigos.com
Log back in checking "Remember Me"
Observe how the theme has reset itself to Rosy Red.

Persistent Login Not Working
When logging in to Ichigos, if a user is to check the "Remember Me" button, the session is not stored after the browser has been closed and reopened. I'm assuming this has something to deal with the bb_sessionhash cookie as it's exparation is set to "Expire at End of Session", whereas all other cookies set by Ichigos would expire exactly one year from the last logon (Meaning 19-NOV-2011). Another oddity that may be related is that the Cookie for Last Activity has a value of "0". I'm not certain if this is intended functionality for that cookie. See below for a screen capture.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/8933/selection066.jpg

Dirty State error
Login to Ichigos using your personal credentials, checking the "Remember Me" box.
Close firefox
Reopen Firefox
Browse back to Ichigos
Notice that you are no longer logged in to the forums, but any theme changes made persist between sessions (meaning some cookies are working).

Clean State
Clear all cookies regarding *ichigos.com before browsing to the website.
Login to Ichigos using your personal credentials, checking the "Remember Me" box.
Close Firefox
Reopen Firefox
Browse back to Ichigos
Notice that you are no longer logged in to the forums, but any theme changes made persist between sessions (meaning some cookies are working).

Lagout
Login to Ichigos using your personal credentials, checking the "Remember Me" box.
Leave Ichigos open for greater than 40 minutes without browsing anywhere.
Reload the page
Notice that you are no longer logged in to the forums, but any theme changes made persist between sessions (meaning some cookies are working).

Various Frames' Vertical Alignment Results in Large Whitespace.
The most identifiable unit of this is the Posting Permissions frame at the bottom of every thread. Observe how under Forum Rules there's a 4ex whitespace which is vertically aligned with the content immediately to the left. Similarly, a problem like this exists for all forum postings that contain a signature. The Vertical alignment of post's signature matches the bottom of the user's abbreviated details on the immediate left. This appears to be an error as there is a heading divider in the frame which text seems to have been superimposed upon.

Multiquote Does Not Work
When writing a message out, clicking the multiquote button does not work at all. Functionality in the previous version 3.0 was to click the multiquote button on any number of posts (which are marked with an inset multiquote button) and at the last post click the quote button. This took all posts marked with multiquote and put them into your post field. In the current build, it only does the post you click quote on and ignores the posts you've marked for multiquote.

Thanks M, this is helpful. Responses inline.

Theme is not Associated by Profile

This is by design. The box at the bottom is temporary, only lasting until you log out (when cookies are cleared). To pick a permanent theme, go to Settings, General Settings, then look for Forum Skin under Miscellaneous Options. This is stored in the database and will be persistent.

Persistent Login Not Working

I was never able to reproduce this, but I think I tracked this down. Had to do with an inconsistency with the login box that the theme uses (I don't know why they don't just use vB's...). Can you test and see it it fixes it?

FYI, bb_sessionhash is not related to the "remember me" setting and will always expire at the end of the session. The cookie that tracks that is bb_password.

Various Frames' Vertical Alignment Results in Large Whitespace.

This has to do with the skin not supporting 4.0.8. I'll look into manually fixing the problem as it appears on several other pages as well.

Multiquote Does Not Work

Same issue as above. Looking into it.

EDIT:

The huge gap is gone now, there's still a small gap but I think that looks good :P

Multiquote does actually work, but the icon doesn't update when you click it. However, if you click MultiQuote on a few quotes then click Reply or Quote, it does actually multiquote for you. Skin/image problem that I might be able to hack around..

It's not really a problem per se, but I just thought I'd point out that people with long names like mine would have the possibility of a letter or two moving onto the next line. It doesn't really bother me that much but it just looks really awkward having the 'e' down below XD

Are these the only colour palettes for the new themes, or are custom colours available? Probably just me, but the contrast... disturbs my eyes (on all three themes).

Just a quick note that the 64bit version Internet Explorer 8 doesn't like the new layout. Everything is displayed incredibly small (far too small to read text) and is squished up into the bottom right hand corner. (No, the zoom function hasn't been used accidentally).

Might want to see if anyone else has trouble using 64bit IE8 (not that it bothers me though).

Same with Chrome 8.0.552.215. It isn't small, just aligned to the right. Usable but annoying.

Well interestingly enough there isn't any problem when using Fire Fox 3.6.13.

I sense M is in the bad books now though.

Just noticed that Icy Blue isn't broken. So that might be a temporary fix for now.

When I went on my sister's laptop to get on Ichigo's, I don't know if it's just the computer, but the whole entire forum just shifted to the right and everything was kind of messed up. But like I said, it might be the laptop. :\

M

I changed everything back. Don't know how IE8 could have broke with that, considering the new postbit was designed to work better with IE. Oh well...

If things still look messed up, clear your browser's cache.

In my case, when I'm *not* logged on, then everything is shifted to the right. When I am logged on, then everything is back to normal. o_o I'm using IE9 from the University computers.
