Hello im sort of a newbie at this but i was able to transcribe a really easy song from Tales of Symphonia. This site requires one to post the midi of the composition and not the original midi. I have FINALE 2010 and 2008 trial editions and so I was wondering if I could use them to get an midi from a MUS. file? Thank you in advance!

Trial? I don't think you can save anything under a demo. Otherwise if you have the registered genuine Finale then you could simply click save as and save it as mid.

Unfortunately the demo versions of Finale, regardless of edition, will not let you save after 30 days. During the 30 day trial period it will only allow you to save in .MUS format. If you own a legitimate copy of said software you can choose to save it as a .Mus, .Midi, .XPF etc... But you have to own a full copy. You can probably save them as midies if you buy the 10 dollar Notepad version of Finale but no promises since I have only had full exposure to Finale 2009.

Make sure you are going to Save As... and not just Save. Perhaps that is the issue.
