It's the 16th ending of Naruto Shippuuden And there's this jazzy chord I know I've heard before but cannot seem to figure it out, can someone take a guess at exactly what the 4th chord in this song is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-yIYWI-Vhs&feature=related

Pretty sure it's just a D major tonic chord.

Yeah, I think your right for the most part but I believe it's a D9 chord because the E on top and the C in it. Also due to the melody there is a bizzare F natural with a D9 chord Meaning a Clash between F and F# and it sounds wierd in my sheet but I swear I have the right chord now. :D
So It's like a D9 with an added #9, strange... @_@

It's a major supertonic (since the key is C-major).

During the half note span you're referring to, the piano does an arpeggiated D F# A C, each sustained a half-note, and a quarter note after the initial D7 starts, adds on a quarter E.

One violin plays half note C and the other plays quarter D then quarter E.

The singer does eighth notes descending G F E D.

So an 8th by 8th analysis of the tones ringing yields

G F(E#) E E
C C C C
A A A A
F# F# F# F#
D D D D

D7add11 D7(#9) D9 D9

I think you're too focused on the singer's passing F-natural, which can be safely disregarded in consideration to the overall chord, which is arguably a D7 for the first quarter and a D9 for the second quarter.

With all that said, I'm not a music theory expert, so I could be wrong on some of these points.

Personally, I hear the fourth chord as a secondary chord leading to the G major chord after, a V7/V in C major. It resolves to V thereafter, so I would have to say that it is basically a D7 chord. I agree with Solphar also on the fourth chord - the F natural seems like a passing tone in this case.

What I heard was a Am7 Chord a B note, then A C Chord Then The D9 then a G then a FmM7 At the end.

But, I was referring to the fourth half note section (which is what you originally referred to as well), not all of the chords.
