Personal Comments
Lots of hard decisions to make from this fairly complete list. Considering the vast quantity of quality anime since the early 1980s to the late 2000s which was both appealing to complete as well as bittersweet. Appealing as it allows me to illustrate what I feel is the best, and bittersweet due to the fact that several anime from the past are tossed aside not from being bad, but because they have become dated and retold in a different light. Several notable mentions such as Beserk, SDF Macross, Chobits, KareKano, Mariasama ga Miteru, Arjuna, Mononoke Hime, and Ayashi no Ceres come to mind as I completed this list, but could not be placed when considering all factors.

You'll notice that almost all of the anime that I have listed here have been made post 2005 (with the exception being the Animation Department). I've done this simply because it is difficult for the generation to properly relate particular fields with the dating of the anime. An example of this is the Best Mechanical Animation award, which would have gone to Macross or Daicon IV, but when put side-by-side to an anime made in the 2000s, it's pretty hard to compete with Gurren Lagann and Death Note.

Those with a keen eye will note that I did not repeat an anime twice. Unlike anime reactor's award system, which essentially comes down to about five good anime repeating over and over again for each award point, I believe it is best to cast votes on things mutually exclusive and where the anime shined the best, rather than spam away on a personal favorite that I felt was best at everything.

I wonder if I should have made this a "per year nomination". I did not want to ignore a lot of quality anime that have appeared in the past, by just mentioning the anime that appeared in a single year.

I will edit this post later to post my own nominations! Hard decisions... :D
