I am using ASIO4ALL 2.10 and sometimes I do not get any sound when I change my input/output from my primary sound driver. I use it with FL Studio. The times this problem has been solved to me have been by just changing from PSD to ASIO and vise-verse. I am already tired of this problem that makes me waste time. @_@

Anyone have an idea of how to solve this?

ASIO4ALL locks your sound card when an application takes it over. So, if you were to open up FL Studio using the ASIO4ALL audio output, it will prevent all other applications from using your sound card until the program that locked it is closed. From what I remember, it also does not dynamically work with switching. You'll have to set your I/O manually.

Switching the input/output inside FL Studio has worked for me in the past, but not always.

Now I discovered the reason why it was not working. Quite simple: I had Winamp open... even if was not playing anything. However, I do not understand why closing it now it made the ASIO4ALL work. I have left many times my Winamp open in the background without play anything and the ASIO4ALL working in FL Studio.

You might be able to get around that by switching Winamp to use a different output module, like try switching from DirectSound to PCM (or whatever it's called, can't remember now). There's two options that will work and maybe one of those won't conflict.

Thanks Gand. I did not know of PCM, I will check about that. I just need to close my Winamp whenever I start a session. Thanks for your reply too, M.

I hope I did not sound confusing with my previous post, I see it sounds confusing. o_0

(I had this problem for almost 2 years and now I figure it was Winamp... XD).

That's weird. I didn't have to close Winamp. FL Studio worked fine with ASIO as long as I'm not playing anything in Winamp. Do note "pausing" winamp will not release it, and if you hit "stop" then it'll take a couple seconds before it's released. A DAC will really make things quicker and easier.
