Hey Nyu. Is it ok to talk about hardware? I noticed many of the listed suggestions are about software and techniques, but nothing about hardware. I'm talking about things like computers, mixers, DAC, ADC, amps, headphones, monitors, etc. And is it also ok to talk about instruments as well that is used in production?

Yes, hardware it is fine. :)

What do you mean by instruments used in production?

oh like synthesizer keyboards, or workstation keyboards in general. Also electric guitars, pianos, violins, etc. You know, when someone is looking for a particular sound for their music, then they'd post it here. Especially if someone (in case) were to ever ask what would be the best piano for recording either at a concert or in a studio. There's stuff like baby grands, semi-concert grands, and concert grands. Then we can help the person position the mics regarding that piano, and also how to treat the room. I find all of this interrelated.

Of course if someone wanted to buy a piano for the sake of learning and nothing to do with audio production, then it probably doesn't go here. Hence why I wanted to make this distinction.

Mic placement, room treatment or anything related to the recording of an instrument or vocal will go here.

Anything that is just related to instruments brand, what instrument to buy, how to learn the instrument, etc, won't go here. Edit:[Except MIDI controllers]

Yeah. Synthesizer or workstation keyboards are technically used in audio production (ie. Yamaha XF, Roland Fantom G8, and Korg M3, as well as synths like Moog, TI Virus, and Dave Smith Instruments), but at the same time it is an instrument. I guess the only criteria is the purpose behind it. So as long as the question involves audio production, that can go here?
