About " Steins;Gate " [from CrunchyRoll]

Steins; Gate follows an eclectic group of individuals who have the ability to send text messages to the past. However throughout their experimentation process, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down. Now it’s a careful game of cat and mouse to not get caught and moreover, try to survive.

Has anyone been watching this anime? There are only a couple episodes out so far, but I am really digging this whole time-travel theme; and the surrealistic feeling I'm getting from it also adds into the liking of this.

^Goodness I second that! I've been waiting for soooooooooooooo long for the anime to come out. Once I've watched the first episode, I was instantly sucked into it. Nice to get away from the whole "Fantasy" formula for most anime since this deals mostly with 99% science and 1% fantasy (if I am correct). I'm waiting patiently for the other episodes to come out...

That description makes me think of Death Note with microwaves and time travelers.

Anyone remember this? (http://ovenofpower.ytmnd.com/)

I find it ironic that I just finished watching Death Note last weekend. . . ?

Come to think of it though, it does has a Death Note-like vibe to it, except there's less of a "logical" feel to the show (even though there's lots of scientific and mathematical what-not tied into it) and more of a "trippy" world. I dig the characterization of the show already. . .even though it's following one character most of the time, just after the second episode you have everyone figured out (which can be nice, but also might mean there could be big changes in people later on?).

Anyone remember this?

Nope!

It has a feel that crosses Chaos;Head (modus tu idiotus) and Death Note.

I'm really enjoying Steins;Gate, it's fun, clever (minus a few paradoxes...) and well-animated.
It's not much like deathnote... the humour, story and charcters are entirely different. I do love deathnote, though. I think that most people do.

having looped the 'sonuvabitch' bit, he sounds really weird when he says it...

@Animefans12-- Agreed, I finally came back to this anime this past week and watched the entire second half in two days.

Haha! It all of a sudden picked up around episode 11-12, and just kept going and going with plot twists until the very end. This is for sure one of the best animes/stories to ever grace us in this modern time. I really wish more people on this forum will watch it and recognize that.

Not to mention, this is the *best* love story I've ever seen develop in a LONG time, since you don't really realize it throughout the entire series.

I just loved the interaction of how the show would incorporate all of these scientific theories and happenings, how they are explained and how they actually "work" when put into use (basically what happens). It jumps from this kind of seriousness, right into a sort of slice-of-life, but without fillers, and a little comedy to build character... which is an amazing way to develop characters I think. Just, everything about this series seems so "real" to me, in the sense that the people aren't just these made up characters in a trippy-esque story. You really get to *know* the characters, much like how Neon Genesis would develop their characters, and even Cowboy Bebop (and by the way, yes, I'm putting this show on the same pedestal as those two).

In all honesty, I had no idea this series was going to turn out to be so amazing when I first started watching it, and I actually stopped watching it around episode 10... but that's when things pick up, and that's all I'm going to say about it ;)

I hope more people will watch this. YOU MUST!

The show presents the story as what youngsters like us would do if we discovered a way to send text messages to the past with a microwave - It's super relatable.

And major bonus points for making Science look sho cooooool.

This anime is one of my favourite.
I love the way that the characters are described. The story is very absorbing...
The end is good but not as I would have liked it to be.

I read a few days ago that there will have a movie. I can't wait ! ^_^
