I think I have the talent to right decent music, I'm not bragging I just think what I do sounds good enough for me to be payed by someone to write something. Not like a huge orchestra composition, but just some piano music or jingles or something. Any ideas on how a 17 year-old with no formal musical education except for piano lessons could make some money in music now? Not like a career, just a one time thing. :\

Forgive me if this sounds riduculous, I'm just looking to make some money with the abilities I have cause I need money.

You could try being a street musician. Get your electric keyboard set up somewhere busy, play some jingles and have a hat for people to throw money into.

It doesnīt sound bad, but I wouldnīt do that.
Try to talk with people, want a job as arranger and pianist. You can make something like a rock group and try to play in locals, you will earn some money. If you play well you can also give particular piano classes. Itīs really difficult to find a work as compositor because there are lots of professionals with really great knowledges about melody and harmnoy. You will win more as a pianist, remember it :D.

I agree with Victor Seven. It's fine to play on the street as I have seen many times in my stay at California, but it's still best to ask people around you to see if they want you to play in any of their events. Maybe they'll have some professions who will be with you while you perform, letting you experience how professionals do their music. And another agreement with Victor Seven about how difficult it can be to find some people to let you play for them since there's a ton more professionals out there who they want to ask instead of you.

But anyhow, start off with your neighborhood zone. There are people that you know that should be able to let you play for them, even if you don't do so well on your first try. (Unless you have a really mean neighborhood, then best to find someone else in your city/area)
