A few friends and I are forming a string quartet to play at an upcoming anime con. We've already found some great music on this site (which rocks by the way) but we wanted to ask for some help tracking down/arranging a couple more pieces.

1. "Hiru no Tsuki" from Outlaw Star

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz1508RBx2w

2. "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" from Final Fantasy VI

I searched high and low for these with no success. As a small incentive, we will likely be recording our set at some point during the convention and uploading it, so the arranger will get a chance to hear their work performed in front of an audience. We only have about two weeks left to rehearse, so even if you only have time for one of the pieces it would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Well, here's the original score of the Aria, if that'd help someone with the arranging (m. 16 might be wrong, but the rest is accurate). I'd love to do it, but just don't have the time at the moment. Out of curiosity, what other numbers are you doing?

if i have the time, i don't mind giving a try for both pieces, unless you want to go with the one for the aria that's here. just listened to the hiru no tsuki one and it's really beautiful. :) if i don't have time i might just do the shortened tv vers.

Emeraldshine, thank you for the Aria. If only we had a harp, lol! But yeah, it's fine. Considering the length and orchestration, we we're just going to use the melody and the string solo as part of a FF Medly, so that's Exactly what we needed. We haven't got a setlist pinned down yet, but were probably going to play a "Start of the World" from Haibane Renmei, Memory of Fanelia from Escaflowne, Noblesse Oblige from Code Geass, Lilium from Elfen Lied, Unforgettable from .hack//Liminatlity, Kiss from .hack//sign, a Mario medly, and couple of pieces from Wind Waker and OoT. Our violinist was also going to work on God Knows from Haruhi and we were working on a duet version of Houki Boshi from Bleach. Right now we're going through everything and picking maybe 30mins of the best music.

Kagekaze, if you could just do the Outlaw Star piece that would be great. That's actually the one I personally wanted most since I've been dying to play it for like eight years now. Even the TV version would be great given the short notice. :D

haha, okay :) but be warned, i am not a cello/viola player, so some stuff you may need to dumb down a little lol, and sometimes rythym may sound a little weird ^^'' but i'll try to make it true to the original as i can.

That's fine. We should be able to handle anything you throw at us. Thank you again!

1402414025 since you guys don't have too much time to practice i had to rush a little, so there are a few things you might not be satisfied with. can't figure out how to make separate parts on finale :heh: so here's the overall score plus midi. when (or if) i figure it out i'll post separate parts here. don't think the tempo i used is the exact one, so use the actual song to help you out. i didn't add too many embellishments or fingering stuff, so you'll have to work that out for yourselves, sorry about that *sweat drop.

i had to manually make the separate parts, so maybe just ask everyone in your group to double check their parts with the main one just in case, though i'm relatively sure everything is fine. and one last thing, the midi tempo is at 76 per quarter note i believe, so adjust the tempo as you see fit. hope everything works out and that you're happy, and if you're not just tell me and i'll try to correct any mistakes. ^_^

Wow, FANTASTIC. I'll look through in more detail tomorrow, but it looks great. I really want to commission you to do the full version with the solos now! You are awesome and hopefully we can do it justice live.

haha, i'm flattered that you want me to do the full version xD
to be honest, part of the reason that i only did the tv version aside from lack of time was that i wasn't sure if my listening skills are good enough, so it was also for me to try and challenge myself lol. Listening to the full version, i don't think that at this point of time i can do it, but who knows? maybe some day i will be able to write it all out for a quartet :)

btw, which anime con are you playing at? i've never been to an anime con, but that's on my to do list sometime in the far future xD

Well, I think you're definitely on your way.

Right now we're keeping the exact con a bit on the down-low. It's sort of a surprise thing, but once it's over we'll post it up.
