Well, since we have the best video game ever played thread, why not have the WORST video game ever played thread too? Anyhow, what game(s) have made you feel bad for buying it in the first place?

For me, it's...

King of Fighters XII
WTH. It's simply terrible. Let me summarize it:

Storyline: Wait. What storyline?
Majority of Characters: Er... I believe it's only 12 or 15 characters...
Graphics: I guess the characters look cool.
Online Match: Lags, lags, LAGS!!!!
Should I get this?: Definate NO NO there.

I regretted tossing 60 bucks out of the window for this terrifying game. Though I've heard XIII is much better. (Well... ATLUS is handling it this time. XD)

Dawn of Magic 2 (PC), Medal of Honor Frontlines (Gamecube), Dead Space (PC) and Bard's Tale (PC).

Dawn of Magic 2 is supposed to be pretty much like Neverwinter Nights, however, that's only a guess. First of all, don't expect this to work on an ATI card, I tried 4 different ATI cards of varying age (models in the range of 1997-2010). I only got my newish HD 4 series to work because of a fan made patch. I also tried playing the game with 4 Nvidia cards (in the age of 2003-2009) and only my 8 and 9 series ones worked, despite the other 2 being above the system requirements. Now, first and foremost, the biggest issue is the graphics. Sure they aren't pretty, but that doesn't make the game. The trouble is the absurd amount of bloom, during the tutorial you are placed on a beach, the bloom is so high that it is impossible to see anything other than the brown bobbing head of your character and a few trees. Even with bloom disabled and force disabled through my GPU, I still had his issue throughout the time I played. The gameplay has more mouse and input lag then an mmo on dialup. This makes combat exceptionally hard, especially if want to use a special ability, you just have to spam keys and hope it registers in time.

In short, severe graphical glitches across multiple PC configurations and dodgy gameplay make this game a pain to play and almost impossible to continue past the tutorial. The text subtitles also don't match with what is being said (eg, Spoken: "I have a quest for you." Subtitles: "You can take a quest from me", and sometimes the spoken audio will just cut out as well.

MoH Frontlines (Gamecube)

While the previous MoH's were fun to play and worked, this one is the exact opposite. Poor optimization see's the framerate drop so low that you appear to be watching a powerpoint. This happens periodically inside and outside of battles, once I even had the framerate drop severely while staring at a blank wall with no combat going on what-so-ever. The graphics are poorly done as well, the lack of anti aliasing and texture filtering makes the game very hard to look at. It is very hard to make out anything among all the fuzzy lines of objects. I had to stop playing this at times because my head would hurt just by trying to find something that it could focus. With various AI bugs that caused me to restart about half the levels in the game, this game doesn't even appear to have left the Alpha development stage.

Dead Space (PC)

A hit on console, a flop on PC. While graphically the game is solid, no glitches anywhere, there is problem with the gameplay and audio. Quite often the battle music won't start during fights or won't end after they have finished. Apparently there is a patch to fix this but I've got the latest version, and I still get this problem now and again. The gameplay is the killer for the game though. Being a port to the PC, I didn't expect the controls to be perfect, but I did expect them to work at least. With up to almost 1 second of mouse lag in menu's and half a second lag in game, targeting is a painful process. The game often doesn't register multiple movements commands (such as diagonal walking, forward+left/right). Resulting me to walk into many walls while fighting. The commands are also quite delayed, the dodge action takes just over half a second to recognize you have pressed the key, but by then it is too late. I did eventually plug in a 360 controller, which got rid of most of the mouse lag under the gamepad config control scheme. However it still felt very clunky and the small amounts of lag made it harder to play. The game would be fine if the controls actually worked (note I tried 2 pc's, with 2 different keyboard and mice setups).

Bard's Tale

The remake of Bard's Tale was one that my Dad was particularly looking forward to, having played the original text adventure. First and foremost, I had to get the game replaced 3 times because the DVD's were corrupt. Not sure if this was just a bad bunch of CD's or copying, but the DVD would fail to install the game. This game would be perfect were it not for the dodgy gameplay. The camera is fixed at a direct right angle to the ground, sitting right on the head of your character. This is very awkward and cannot be changed. With the zoom limited to 'close' and 'closer' you really can't see a lot. The keyboard shortcuts for items would often break, leaving you spamming your potion button, say '3', yet it would never register. There were also problems with the mouse, being a top-down (literally) RPG, you need to click stuff. The mouse is horribly inconsistent, randomly speeding up and then going in slow motion across the screen. Again, another game that would have been good if the controls would actually work up to standard.

Dodgy gameplay and rubbish controls were the killer for pretty much all these games.

I haven't actually played it, but...

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Rigs%3A_Over_the_Road_Racing). A few choice quotes from the Wiki article:
"...although computer-controlled opponent vehicles do indeed appear in the game, they have no artificial intelligence, and never move from their starting position."
"There are technically no obstacles for the player to negotiate in Big Rigs, as the truck may freely be driven on and off roads without any loss of traction, up or down 90° slopes with no loss or gain of speed, through structures such as buildings and trees, simply falling right through bridges, and even out of the boundaries of the map into an endless grey void."
"The game occasionally fails to distinguish between whether the player is starting or finishing the race when they pass through the starting point..."

Moh frontline? I know it may have been bad on Gamecube but on Xbox it's very fun to play. I tend to favor games where you are on your own instead of with a team which is why I don't really like alot of the new war games like blackops.

Worst Games:

Wii Music - Thought it'd be fun, turns out it's only entertaining if you Dont play a musical instrument. Very lame and expensive. :(

Open Season video game - (Shutter)

Chicken Shoot for Wii - Need I say more?

Ghost Squad for Wii - You need to try this game, it's freakin hilarious, the terrorist just run right infront of your gun. And it's almost impossible to die even on hard, my little nieces play it alot, lol.

The game is fun, unless you do or do not have knowledge of the YuGiOh TCG. You need knowledge of the game to form a decent deck. If you do know of the game, you'll know that there is no tributes and the attack scores are all over the map; in addition to allowing monster fusion to happen at any time. It's not true to the game it was modeled after.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter on Xbox 360

Ridiculously easy. The animals are all pinpointed on your radar and they run laps around you. I played it expecting it to be like the old Big Hunter games where it'd take you a good 20 minutes to actually track the animal and then you had to sneak up on them or else they'd run out of your map and you'd be screwed.

I have no idea to be honest, I often forget the crappy games. Although Dragon's Lair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon%27s_Lair_(Nintendo_Entertainment_System)) on the NES was quite horrible.

I really don't play many bad games (thank god), but I do remember FFX was one of the worst RPGs I ever touched. It's actually the only FF game I've ever returned, and it turned me off from every FF game since.

Manga Carta was also a terrible RPG. It was slow, the contrast was way too low, and it had far too many extra systems. I don't think I ever got past the first 15 minutes of play time. I did like the character designs, though. I spent more time looking at the illustration booklet than the game itself.

I think The Elder Scrolls: Morrowinds (Xbox Classic) was the worst video game I'd ever played. I didn't understand it at all and the controls took too long to identify. I'd get killed before I could ever get a shot in.
