I don't know about other people but I for one am guilty of being lazy when learning a new song. I rush the fingering and I've learned that it seriously pays off to come up with good fingering for a song. There's this song I'm transcribing which is the Blinx Sky world theme and there is a trill on the note D which is (D, Eb, D) then goes down to C and Up a fifth to G. I though that the best thing would be playing my 2nd and 3rd finger but that kind of stalls due to my adequate technique and I just started getting into ornaments alot. Anyway, I found that it was far easier to play thumb and 3rd finger because it's stronger. Later I read a thing on the internet talking about three finger trills, sure enough, I tried playing D, Eb, D with My 1st on D, 3rd on Eb then 2nd finger back on D which let me put my thumb on C before the G up a fifth. Turns out, the most obvious fingering isn't always best or easiest. ^.^ Any one Else play Trills like this? Thoughts?
