I've heard of people doing this but i never tried it until now. It's amazing how clear the tone is by rubbing a wine glass with a wet finger. I thought you'd need crystal but we bought a couple cheap $1 glasses from the dolar store and they work pretty dang good for something that cheap. Now if I could find enough sizes to make me a new instrument these things sound incredible. I knew that they were used in the Harry potter theme along with a celesta too but I think that's a bit advanced for a beginner :heh:

Try it, it's so cool and cheap if you know where to buy them but I don't know where I'd get really big ones for lower pitches and the glass be thin enough to resonate. Not only that but the glasses have to be made where there is not much thickness at the bottom or that dampens the sound too much. :lol:
