Hello everyone. This year I've set out to try and make a career in Electronic Music, and I've just completed my first track, under my artist name of Forteni. I hope you all enjoy, and if you wish to support me feel free to spread the word and purchase this track for only $0.79 AUD at the link below.

I like it. What program are you using?

I'm using FL Studio 10 with the Nexus2 Vst Plug-in and Audacity. For Nexus2 I'm using the Dubstep x Eletro, Trance Elements and Drum Singles packs. I also didn't use any preset loops or anything like that; I just used Nexus2 to get a base sound to work off. So everything is nearly completely original. :)

This is just my first song I've released as well. I'd fiddled around with the FL Studio demo before, but this is the first time I've actually made a full song. I've just started working on a mini album so hopefully I'll be able to get that out within a month or so.

Edit: Oh, and almost forgot to add; everything is running on 64bit Windows 7. ;)

The shift at 3:05 should have happened a lot sooner to keep the listener interested; just a light taste of it for about 2 phrases rather than the usual 8. Also the use of some ambient Rhodes would level this out as EDM rather than Chiptune.

A few people have said that the shift should have happened sooner. I'll keep that in mind for next time. ;)

I was considering putting ambient sounds in, but after a few trials I didn't like how they fitted in texture-wise. I do love ambients, I think I'll include them from the start when I make new songs.

Well, a nice and simple warm pad with an XY delay would work well with this, as the track is generally based off of a square waves. If you didn't like the textures, you should consider underlining a pad and hiding a melody. Lots of EDM actually have two themes layered on top of one another, but one is just barely noticeable. After all, this type of music is all about unique sounds and subtle transitions.

Did you tweak the kick? It sounds so sexy!

I actually recorded a normal kick and just slowed it down a bit with compression. Then to make it more intense for the 'chorus' sections I just added 2 of them. ;)

And thanks for the comments everyone. I've got 3 more songs I'm working on at the moment. Here's a preview of one of the more finished songs. Mind you they're all only about 50% done. I've gotten rather busy lately with actual, real life work (the horror, I know :O ), so I just work on these when I've got some free time and when I'm in the mood for it.

Anyway, the preview of one of the new tracks.

Nice, but the kicks needs more definition (attack louder, reverb more tight to the hit). It's screaming Hardcore Overclock.

Just finished my second track a few minutes ago. Called it "Test 152" because that strangely happens to be the amount of times I saved the file and the bpm. XD But without further a-do..........

Also if you liked this track and wish to support me, head over to Bandcamp (http://forteni.bandcamp.com/track/test-152) and purchase it for $0.50 (AUD).

I did modify it to be more defined. The general consensus from people who listened to the preview said they liked it more less defined. So I just made a small adjustment but overall left it the same.

And Ander, I'm just glad you can imagine something with my music.....................what ever it might be lol.
