YAY!!!! another composer!!!! Me only 13 too! Brave new world, isn't it? Do you play piano? If you do not, I suggest you learn. Playing piano helps SOOOOOO much with chord progressions and such. My trumpeting skills (among other things) are COMPLETELY useless when it comes to composing. Piano helps because there are more than just one note things (i suppose on the violin you can get two notes). You get both treble and bass clef, 3 note chords (or 4 note) on each hand sometimes, so the only thing you don't know how to write is percussion. :D

I don't play the piano, just flute, and I can compose stuff, just takes a bit to turn them into notes. And I don't even HAVE a piano to try to learn the notes. Oh, well! :sweatdrop: Good luck, kammy-yaki, though!

I can give you some tips for younger composers cuz those old ppl just don't understand... . Pm me... I'll try to make it easier on you (I may be able to teach you to read music...) if you don't know already. ^_^

yeah, that happens... it's a good idea to write your ideas out too. it doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense or sounds horrible, it just gets the idea juice flowing. and yeah, some piano skills will help too. also, study your favourite composers way of writing, why was it built and written that way... don't go too deep into it if you get bored easily, just see how they build up chords and stuff... and if not, well, i'll think of something that may help you new composers... cause i'm new to it myself...haha....

Thanks for the encouragement
:D you're so sweet
and trumpetplayer
I'm send you a message and we can talk without filling up the forum :sweatdrop:
and as for my advice
I'd say don't sit in front of a blank paper and try to write something
It just don't work
composing to me is kinda like writing any literature. you don't find the idea the idea finds you. As you ride on the bus hum to yourself. you like the tune you find a keyboard figure out the notes and write it down.
and when you want to compose you look at little tune and maybe put them together or build them up.
