I've been playing since I was 8... 11 years? Anyway, I still can't play Eternal Harvest from Final Fantasy IX. It really bugs me. One of my favorites has to be Scarlet from Ayashi No Ceres.

You all have such experience! I have to catch up with you all and get some tips!

Michael

Yes, Eternal harvest is very hard, but break it up. Do the first 4 bars very slowly, hands seperate and then speed up for both of them. Then put it together and move on to the next four bars, it's the best way of tackleing hard pieces such as this!

MirokuMayasaki

In Eternal Harvest...I found the first part to be easy because the left hand became predictable... It was just later in the song when the right hand takes a faster speed that kinda, catches me off guard if you know what I mean.

I know what you're saying. I do the same thing when I play Trumpet pieces. If I had more time, I would get it down, but I'm too busy trying to figure out how to play my own pieces. Thanks though.

Oh ya, you can also use the "quote" button like I did.

I've only been playing for 9 years. And I am not what you can call a dedicated student. ^^;; I am still trying to play Eternal Harvest and I am failing HORRIBLY. So I've turned to Inuyasha's Every Heart. Very pretty song. And not to bad of a key signature either. I enjoy FF music in particular..FF X music. NOBUO UEMATSU IS SO COOL!!! I also am enjoying..Madoka's file :Emotion..From Kimagure Orange Road. I believe. Gomen if its wrong. Very pretty. ^____^ And the only tip I can give..PRACTICE ALOT!!!!! ^____^

AznJoe
April 7th, 2004, 03:47 am
Eternal Harvest IS very hard but if you have enough experience in playing any piece, like a chopin piece, then you should be able to play it good.

Every Heart was the one on ichigos thats new rite? i just printed it out today and played 3 pages of it...it seems pretty easy if you can figure out a good finger position......

Misao, I think you can be able to play this good piece in no time. :D

michael
April 7th, 2004, 07:02 am
Every Heart isn't too difficult if you take your time.

I'm sorry, Eternal Harvest bugs the hell out of me. I love it, I just get it to be on smooth flow. But I can't work on it right now, to many other songs I have to master.

Happy now? I don't like using quote buttons as I can't reply to more than one person at the same time with out my post taking up alot of space. Anyway, hope you actually get round to practising it because that's the only way your going to learn it and I thought that with 11 years of experience you would havel learned it by now.

It was a suggestion, note the "rolling eyes."

Althought I have 11 years, I'm still at a very low level. I had many family problems that prevented me from playing for some years in the middle, and I didn't get any proper training past my 3rd year.

BlackMage
April 7th, 2004, 01:45 pm
Not to be mean or rude, but three years of playing and eight years of little training should still secure you to play Eternal Harvest.

I've been playing pianofor 9 years (yet I quit it for 4 of those years, which makes five). I've never owned a Final Fantasy game (just some emulators >.<), so I'm not really a fan of it or the music.

I've been playing since kndergarten. That's nine years, almost. Right now I'm working on Eternal Harvest on my own. With my teacher I'm working on Chopin's Prelude in E minor.

Well, you could always download the free version of Finale... considering that the .mus files on the ichigos.com site are kinda...for that program ^^' (and a could others I think...) But I think thats why she has the .mus files on the site... It's set up for 2 hands also.

Haha. Let's just say I don't have the drive. ^__^ Well I'm still trying to do Every Heart on top of 5 books...(Hanon, Czerny 30, A Korean Book of Famous songs, A Jazz Piano album 1, and Sonatinen album 1) Haha. So forgive me if I seem like a dunce. ^__^ I really like piano and all..except...classical is just not for me. ^___^ Pieces like 'Beautiful' from WK is more suitable! ^____^

hey,
i've stopped taking piano lessons for awhile... and right now i'm just playing what comes to my head... recently i just tried taking up composition by teaching myself....
i see you guys are talking about finalfantasy. some songs are great... i enjoy most of those songs myself. and for the song every heart... i need to find a better music sheet for it... the one that i have sounds good, but no bass sound as it should... the one in ichigo's to me sounds really funky..... but not exact as the song BoA sang... so yeah... anyone have a better version of the song? tell me plz.

I've been playing for about 5 of 6 years. The best songs on piano are of course .hack//SIGN In the Land of Twilight, Under the Moon, To Zanarkand, and Suteki Da Ne. I LOVE these songs, they bring back so much memories of Final Fantasy X, to the second two at least.

I was going to work on Everyheart, but sarah beat me to it. I agree that her version is a bit....funky, so I might consider arranging another version of it. Her song is more of a....syncopated song, which is good for some songs, but I don't think its appropiate for slow songs. But then again, she did one hell of a job making it work out to sound as good as it does with syncopation!!!

Anyone here love Super Mario on the piano?

Okay I'm probably going to come off as rude here, but:

1) I went to the Ichigos' game music page to download "Eternal Harvest". By looking at the score, I don't think there's anything challenging at all about the piece, aside from the fast pace. Practise slowly, and then build up.

2) I hate Maksim. I'm still a firm believer that people who play classical with drums n' bass/techno background music deserve to be shot in the head. Other examples: Vannessa Mae, Bond, etc..

3) La Campanella is extremely difficult. I have learnt Fantaisie-Impromptu as well, and La Campanella isn't even on the same difficulty level (La Campanella is much more difficult). But if you want to try it, I hope you manage well. :) It's a fantastic piece if played properly (most people play it terribly). If any of you want to listen to it, the best version in my opinion is Yundi Li's. There's a video of him playing on the Deutsche Grammophone website, if I'm not mistaken. My internet is working funny right now, so I'll give you guys the link later. Some people like George Cziffra's version as well, because he plays OMG LIEK TWICE AS FAAST AS NORMAL SPEED!!!!1111

A bump to this thread, because I just wanted to mention that I got an Honours for my Guildhall Grade 8 piano exam..

The pieces I played were:

JS Bach, Fantasie in C minor BWV906
Schubert, Impromptu in C Op.90 No.1 (D899)
Brahms, Capriccio in F# minor Op.76 No.1

How do I feel?

Alphonse,

Well, I'm taking the Guildhall Board, not the RCT board. Our highest "grade" before the first (associate) diploma is Grade 8... The pieces in the syllabus are very, very difficult -- some are diploma level in other boards like ABRSM and Trinity.

(I think the Brahms piece I chose was in the ARCT syllabus, if I'm not mistaken)

AznJoe, you can use this site for all your classical music needs:

http://www.classicalarchives.com

..and if you want sheet music, this site would help too:

http://www.sheetmusicarchive.net

Please note that the sheet music in the Sheet Music Archive are sometimes inaccurate -- so if there are any wrong notes, don't blame me :P

Now that my Grade 8 is over.. My diploma is next.. I have no specific pieces yet, but my programme (25-35 minutes long) will be something like this:

A Prelude & Fugue from Bach's WTC
A full Mozart sonata
One of Rachmaninoff's Preludes... perhaps the one in C#minor, despite being too famous
One piece from Ravel.. or Debussy. For Debussy I have "Pour le piano" in mind.

I played Trombone for five years. But it was school instrument, and I didn't want to buy one...so I started learning piano since 2 weeks :sweatdrop: (on a little 4 octave keyboard with..hmm TOO much sound...quality traded for quantity here).

I'm still poor at reading in treble clef..since trombone is in bass clef.
I know some blues basic (chords, rythm, gammes).

I can barely play a piece...I want to be able to play FF VII AC theme (took it from ichigos) in two weeks :)

(I didn't think it was going to be that hard to coordinate the two hands)

I played that Fantasy Impromptu before, but I only got up to the end of the first major phrase (2 or 3 systems) because I had to finish another song I was working on for the recital at my high school (Bach: Partita no 2: Sinfonie (part 1 of that partita).

I love the Chopin Ballad (1) in g (op 23) very very nice... and no it doesn't sound easy anywhere.. brilliantly structured, although around 8 minutes when it starts that phrase... masterful... someday if I have time

Anyways, about 7-9 years for me (I'm not EXACTLY sure... I think 8...) the first 6 years were a joke... had a bad teacher but didn't realize it... (because I'm an idiot... ^_^ I'm back where I should be now hehe)

i haven't touched a piano in 4 weeks and when i played today......something horrible happened.....

i forgot how to play the songs!!!

Just practice. ^^

I think I can fianlly play "Fur Elise" perfectly now. The middle part still boggles me for some reason, and I KNOW it isn't that hard.

Dude, I forget songs after I play them at the recital. I'm still working in the !@#$%^& Chopin Ballade in G minor. Got chewed out by my piano teacher on wednesday, now I have to practice 4 hrs X_X

Okay, my situation:

Still trying to finish up Mendelssohn's Rondo Capriccioso

Just started on the a minor Mozart Sonata..

Trying to improve technique by playing a Chopin Etude..

So stressful. >_<

@ michael: yeah, I always screw up the middle part for some reason

@ Ayanami: I really should find the cd for that song and listen to it again

@ Gnomish: which instrument is it for?

@ Zero: heh, I find that I can still play it almost decently after not practicing for a few weeks

@ Moebius: oh gosh, it's been so long since I last played the rondo, it used to be in my repertoire because people loved seeing the hands moving all over the keyboard . . . there's only one a minor sonata I can think of, hope that's the one you're talking about, cause I like the 1st movement . . . which etude? I want to learn the butterfly one!

Yeah the rondo is fun as heck.. but difficult @_@ My technique is pretty crappy so it is gonna sound like sh*t.

I only know one A minor sonata too, the K.310 one.. The first movement is orgasmic, yes I agree.

I'm playing the Op.10 No.8 Etude. Not a particularly known etude, though.

The G minor Ballade is greatnesssss.... Although I prefer the F minor and Ab major ballades.

i've only began the piano, didn't go to any schools! i learned to play coz i was addicted to music, i like playing Final Fantasy music, Nina from Cityhunters, and more, but for the time being i like playing To Love You More- Celine Dion, such a nice piece! I suggest we all try it out! ^-^

 Don't mind me i'm just knew around here, as i started playing the piano that was only a few months back, i joined Ichigo on Aug.14, 2004, well if anyone like to help me around this site, i'd love a good tour!
