i just finished a new shade and fang pic, but my scanner is kinda busted so i gave it to a friend, but he forgot to scan it <_< so ill probably post that one in a few days or something... actually shade is six feet tall, the exact lenght of the blade part of the long sword, but whithout the *insane hairdoo* hees five feet tall (lol). his normal katana, at his belt, is just a bit shorter than the lenght of the handle of the long sword. thats how i measure the weapons when i draw so there the right size. i also worked a lot on shade, i did like twenny drawings of him before getting him just right.

(wy do i alwais edit my posts? hmm, mabe im a bit of a perfectoinnist.....)

I wonder how'd you swing a sword that's longer than you are.... but, then again, this *is* anime... :P

Very cute character.. I'd like to see a more detailed closeup of him. His hair sorta reminds me of Sideshow Bob, though.. But that's not such a bad thing! ^^*

Keep up the cool art. I really like the griffin.

Yay! *fellin happy* actually the blade of his sword is thin and the handle is long, so the balance point is near the guard*, this makes the sword easyer to handle. also, shade's little trick, he always practices with the sheath ON the sword so its like 10 times heavyer, so in a real battle he takes it off and the sword feels much lighter.

* you know the sword zorro uses, its real thin and pointy, and if u banlance it ur hand is real close to the guard (remember in pirates of the caribbean, when orlando bloom is at the house and gives the guy the sword, and he shows it to yhe guy, and he balances it on his finger, thats called the balance. my long sword has a balance that is on the blade, but still its close to the guard, you see, with a perfect balance, the sord is extremely easy to handle, but it has like no power watsoever. with a balance like, in the midlle of the blade, its very poweful but hard to handle.

damn. i hope i get my new drawing back soon. <_<

1st Drawing: Nice shading but i think you can work on the guy's face a bit but the hair is nice and the sword as well...big though....Oh and the lion is awesome as well.
2nd Drawing: Shading is awesome here too, his sword is crazily well shaded but yeah i think it is a bit too big. In this one the hair is well done, very nice.

Other Comments: For the 2nd picture i think you should rethink about his pose, cuz it does look plain for him to just stand there and do nothing....if there was more of a pose like action motion to be sprung...it'd be very nice...But your shading is your strong point....Nicely done.

ehh, counterweighs for swords are often placed at the end of a handle, in the form of a stone. blades are often made thinner by hollowing out the sides, and to weigh it down in the front, the tip of the sword is unhollowed and remains solid. you can see examples of this in the sabre.

anyways, i'd say that sword would be extremely unwieldy... once an opponent gets past the first 1/3 of the sword, it's very hard to apply enough force to hurt them.

but thats y in the story (its fantasy manga, remember? the lion WITH WINGS kinda gives it away) he does have very powerful, and swift techniques to keep his distances and move that big katana and himself in a blur, also his normal katana for closer combat.

also the metal in the handle has a heavyer mix to it, making a better balance, and the use of the handle as a weapon ads to the deadlyness of that big sword.

oh and th VERY much for your comments, ur a big help!
