Ichigo's Forum has been receiving a high activity of spam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITeuaqcpckc), and the registration for new users had to be disabled by our administrators. This will be temporary while our administrators figure out how to lower the levels of spam.

We are sorry for this inconvenient. You can check us in a few days or sit and listen to music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDHe8eQjDOc) while you wait.

I'm assuming we're using the typical Akismet, Stop the Registration Bots, and the classic blacklist groupings (http://www.dnsbl.info) (my cocktail can be found below):

Another thing to consider is to blacklist known bad proxies (or blacklist proxies entirely).

Rather interesting, I made a rather helpful reply to this thread and it was sent off to the moderation queue. I guess you guys are looking into more complex spam protection. Well, if you want some of my advice, check the moderation queue in the Mod CP area and you'll see a series of blacklists and suggested plugins that I've used before.

Is there a way to do referrals then?

Registration has been re-enabled after a forum upgrade. Hopefully we will see less spam now.

Late reply but, I'd go with just the known bad ones, rather than all of them. There are at times legitimate reasons for proxy usage.

Spam is still excessive. I just deleted over 250 threads. x_x

I've been wondering why spam all of a sudden. I almost got tricked into clicking it. X|

Will this be enabled any time soon? Feels like its been disabled for months now.

I'm going to re-enable it, but with all posts by any user with less than one post being put in the moderation queue

I think we're gonna need extra mods to clean up the spam... x_x

Well hopefully they will all be moderated now. I also required moderation for any posts in General since nobody creates threads there but spammers
